for techy drums i like thomas penton.
incidentally, anybody know where i can get a really good open snare sound? a good punchy one, a real good thok! or if you have such a sample...
Vengeance essential 1
snares 10 and 16
mistabishi snares 24 25 28
but that's mainly with the EQ and compression later
I boost at around 180hz, then compress! look at the FL guru's tutorial for compression, the logic can be applied to a range of daws, limiters and compressors

I am a big fan of Hip Hop drums right now

they do exactly what I want with hardly any processing!
Techno drums just sound so wrong to me. They stand out so much they distract you from the track. I like to hear things blend and gel together, not kick drums or snares standing out poking me in the face.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

Vengeance essential club sounds
Checkout electro though, that may have some good stuff

Just posting here instead of starting a new topic.
Can anyone recommend some good hiphop/'dirty'/organic sounding drum packs?

i own the steven slate drums EX plugin - best buy i ever made for kontakt. use it 100% of the time for breakbeats and fills, keeps stuff sounding very fresh and real! picked it up from the Andy Sneap metal production forum. pretty much the DSF of band music

I don't really like most of the vengeance samples, a LOT of the snares sound VERY grainy, snappy and distorted..
I like my snares to sound pretty short, clean and almost like you just tapped an empty coffee tin.
That jungle sort of snare, you know?
And I like bass drums to sound very deep like trance drums, so they blend in easier with sub bass and other low frequency synths.
Almost any closed hi-hat will do for me. I like to use dblue glitch vst on my hi-hats, so they sound like they just came out of a glitch-hop track.

Goldbaby layered with Vengence Essential House + loads of processing for snares (I've put CPU usage at 70% just making one snare

)
Vengence Essential House for kicks layered
Vengence Essential Clubsounds for hats
