Re: Asio
thats a good question. I often have problems trying to use my Fast Track Pro ASIO driver for Ableton and Youtube at the same time. I usually have to restart one of the programs to give it control of the audio. Pain in the ass not being able to use both at the same time. What OS are you using? I'm on Vista 64bit but serisouly considering moving back to XP for stability...
Anyone else able to provide us with some insight?

Re: Asio
ASIO is compatible with Ableton, I use Numark interface with it all the time.
I just install it, turn it on and select it in preferences under Audio in and out.
I run Windows 7 64-bit

Re: Asio
That I'm not too sure on. Think it might conflict if already being used elsewhere.
Although I think there should be a control panel somewhere you can manipulate it with.

Re: Asio
Asio is not something you can have instances of. It is not an application in of itself.
What you want is an audio interface that has MULTICLIENT ASIO DRIVERS.
The multi client means that different applications can access the audio functions of the hardware.
I can tell you not having multiclient drivers is like not having the internet on your computer. DOA.
With multiclient drivers you can send audio from one application to another application, out of that application and into another application, it makes your computer a truly modular audio environment.
My emu 1616m has multiclient drivers, and I love it.
If you are using asio 4 all, you are out of luck for the time being, they have not released a multiclient driver. I don't know if they ever will.
