i wouldn't really say that about judo these days, although a lot of it is applicable to real life situations there is a lot more focus on competetive judo

been doing krav maga and kapap for almost ten years now, it is a vastly superior fighting style for self defense

Because while you're doing your katas and trying to throw me by my lapels, a traditional boxer has hit you five times with actual punches, and not karate chops and pressure points. Krav Maga is a joke. Judo has its uses, but falls short when used in unrestricted combat. Ishin Ryu is like any other traditional martial art, it has its uses, but mostly only against other people who practice that martial art. I love seeing traditional martial artists fight against a western boxer or a thai kickboxer and stumbling everywhere when they realize they don't train for a real, under pressure fight.

well you're talking real life situations which is down to the individual not some arena or sport fight
boxers are the same as martial artists
i'm not gonna do some kata or shit when i get hit
i'm going to do max damage and reactive moves
any fighting technique is to learn it so it becomes a reactive instinct, not a routine

Bullying happens whether you like it or not. From the playground to the workplace there will allways be someone being nasty or bellittleing others.

Avoiding violence is always the best answer but can't be avoided sometimes.

I have a friend who had a hard time at school but was seemingly ok. Now 10 years later he has isolated himself so much its got to the point where he can't leave his house without his parents. Such a shame since he is an incredibly talanted producer and dj.

He never got beaten up it was sheer mental torture.
maybe his magical jew carpenter compelled him to speak out

if boxing is so effective how comes randy couture fucked up james toney in 1 round putting him on his back and choking him with an arm triangle?
ever seen ufc 1? In his first fight Royce gracie beat a boxer without even throwing a single punch

Boxer isn't well rounded enough and doesn't take into account the reality of ground fighting, try knock someone out while your lying flat on you back and the dude on top is trying to break your limbs or choke you unconscious

i think thai boxing is sick for stand up but that also doesnt doesnt take into account ground fighting... hence we have MMA now where you have to train for all aspects and we have this man to thank for it

mma is fun as hell to watch
anyone arguing any fighting style when it comes to the street is sadly mistaken
it always comes down to the individual
why i love the bumfights dvds and shit like them when it comes to real fights
ffs it's how kimbo slice got into real sport fighting

real fights with passion and the whole to the death attitude are so much better to watch than sport shit if you ask me

Oh obviously, it also is a matter of circumstances surrounding the fight... anything thing can happen
My post was mainly to illustrate that boxing simply isn't well rounded enough, the same applies to any pure striking styles. of course its dumb to say X style will always win, you can never tell

that said i have seen many videos where people win street fights with BJJ techniques... not to mention all the gracie challenge videos

i would personally replace ishin ryu ju-jitsu with BJJ but other than that your list is solid

exactly... borrowed is the joke, not krav maga... and i combine Qigong pressure points into my routine, so its not a matter of fighting, but protection...

the fastest boxer in the world can come up and have his arm snapped in three places, thats fine... but all he has to do to not get hurt is not throw any punches, at all

Sorry. I couldn't resist.

I don't see why you guys are talking about physical and verbal as two seperate things. Violence is an act of aggression. It can be either.
my english :corndance:

we're talking separate things because at first they were only talking about physical aggression ; i wanted to show that verbal aggression is not less bad

I don't fight often.
last time I hit someone I broke his jaw & knocked him out for like 5mins.
it was a mate & he kept lying to me.

felt guilty as fuck... now I just keep ma hands to myself.
