How to do CD Authoring

Post by Dirty-Hertz » Fri Jan 21, 2011 2:05 pm

Does anybody know how to burn a continuous DJ mix onto a CD as separate tracks rather than an hour long WAV so you can quickly skip to a track etc? Thanks.

You'll need to create a cue sheet, use a suitable program to burn the wav according to the cue sheet info.

Mac or PC? :)

Either, have access to both at work. Just need the program names and maybe a quick guide or something.

I use Nero for my burning. Before I make the CD, I'll listen to the mix in like WinAmp or something, and make a note of when the tunes kick in (i.e. where I'd want a new track to start), writing down the time it takes place e.g.

1) 0:00
2) 2:47
3) 5:48
etc
etc

When I load up Nero, I load the single WAV of the whole mix, then add markers at the points I've made a note of. Bit long winded, but easier than faffing around with cue sheets IMO.

Depends how you're making your cue sheets :)

If they have Waveburner on a Mac, that should do it. Plenty of options for PC - Nero, I *think* Exact Audio Copy does it too.

can't remember if Toast had it, but Jam definitely did (no I am not making puns, 10 years ago, they were separate progs with these silly names)
