rare vinyl...

Post by kinskin » Sun Jan 23, 2011 12:59 am

couldn't find a thread on this;

any vinyl dj loves finding really rare or limited pressed tunes, but i was just wondering what some of the rarest/hardest to find 12'' and 10'''s there is around in dubstep. I'm talking mainly coki/mala/digital mystikz/cotti/kromestar/rsd or whatever anyone has/knows about.

Dmz - Anti War Dub on Discogs for £100
Pretty sure there's rarer stuff though still.

depends what you mean by rare.
there's records with a limited press that aren't quite as in demand. Are they still considered rare?

hmm...others I can think of

Mala - I Luv U
Loads of DMZs
Alot of the early tempa stuff if you count that
Bootshake007 (had a fair few messages on discogs of people trying to buy it off me)
Burial & Fourtet - Moth
Zomby - Spliff Dub

There'll be loads! 9Samurai?

oh yeah, Burial - South London Boroughs, the early hyperdub ep is pretty rare/expensive now i think.

I don't think any of these are rare. Just expensive.

Think about it. You can find a copy of any of them pretty easy. They just cost a lot.

Also any tune by Loefah before 2006.

'Root/The Goat Stare' in particular.

in fact i'd hazard a guess that that's probably the rarest/most expensive dubstep record you'll find. some of the other big apple stuff is very rare too (particularly the coloured vinyl pressings) but you'll be lucky to even have the option of buying that, let alone having to spend a fortune on it

dmz007 is worth a lot but i don't think it's actually that rare. there used to be lots of them around - it's just one of those records that every wants to own

all the early dmz, deep medi, hyperdub etc and associated white labels are worth a lot too

this is probably up there as one of the rarest

pretty sure it was about 300 but I could be wrong...

some of the Big Apples can be found for cheapish i.e. <£30 but 006 is the hardest to get.

other rarities / high price records, old & new:

Menta - The Soul
Horsepower - Stick & Move rmx
TEMPA002-007 (particularly 005) and the first 2 Horsepower LPs
Hatcha - Bashment
most old Ghost / El-B records
Cotti & Cluekid - the Legacy
Quest - Hardfood EP
Quest vs Mizz Beats - Purple Love (purple vinyl)
Vex'd - Pop Pop & Lion (Subtext 001 & 002)
Hessle Audio 001 & 002
Joker - Gully Brook Lane - metalwork lost so never got a repress
Zomby - Spliff Dub
the 4 Headhunter coloured vinyls on Tempa

I'll sell you all the above for a grand.

Big tune. I somehow got the 320 from Chemical for free, don't know what I did.
