The lack of love Mosca is getting in these awards is just criminal. There. Just wanted to get it off my chest.
Re: ***dubstepforum.com awards 2011*** VOTE!!!
All about nominations. Maye we should let everyone nominate at least 2 or three in each category. Would make for an easier time on trying to remember everyone... Tbf, 2010 was a year filled wiu incredible music... Hard to choose! Good thing it's all in fun

last years we let everyone nominate up to 3 in each category.
but, this year, to prevent fraud (technical reasons) we had to limit it to 1 per category.
maybe we will think a way around next year...

Massive thank you to everyone who has supported and represented Area Recordings through out 2010. Truly honored that you guys nominated the label and It was a great year to see a small label start to grow, and with the sound of what is in he pipe line for releases in 2011 the seeds have truly started to grow. Would like to give a big shout out to Fused Forces, DJ Crises, Kiev Bass, 3rdeye for the support and representing the music in their sets as well as the all the listeners who tune in weekly to listen to my sub.fm show.
massive respect

Re: ***dubstepforum.com awards 2011*** VOTE!!!
You know, this voting thing is pretty good in also seeing how each year the type of people on this forum are changing. I recently posted in the production section in the finished tracks thread. I went to give 3 sets of feedback but couldn't on quite a lot as pretty much every track was trying to imitate the ever so popular commercial sound.
I think the reason why so many artists and labels are not getting votes is because of the more commercial artists having a bigger breakthrough and the brosteppers of us voting for them.
It's all fair I suppose.

Re: ***DSF AWARDS 2011***>>>>> 7 DAYS LEFT!!!
Sorry, I don't mean to be overly negative but the awards seem to be getting less relevant.
Why is Soundcloud going to win the best website category? Soundcloud has nothing to do with dubstep. It's essentially a file host.
The polls currently suggest that Soundcloud is more appreciated by the heads than GetDarker is. Bullshit.
I'm sure you only included Soundcloud because people voted for it, but people voted for dubstepforum.com and you had no problem exluding that from the results!
Not sure what's on with the new label category either. No disrespect to anyone involved, but Fent Plates, seriously?
They are rocking about 25 unknown artists on their roster but only have 6 releases and the shabbiest flash website seen since 1995. Google them. If loads of people really nominated them as the cream of the crop then we (collectively as a scene) are a bunch of idiots, sorry.
MC/Vocalists - What do Foreign Beggars have to do with dubstep? Has someone used one of their acapellas in a remix?
Excision #2 DJ?
Skream/Loefah/N-Type are > Hatcha for DJing?
Anyone except Youngsta is > Hatcha for DJing?
I'm honestly not having a go at any of the DSF management with this. I'm just in disbelief at all of the spasticated voting.

What frightens me now is that I only just noticed PARIAH is not included in the awards. How on earth is that possible? He could have easily won two of the categories. How did the people overlook him??

Thought I'd directly reply to what seems to be a public shaming. As far as artists go, we are searching for undiscovered talent within the deep Dubstep music scene and search out the musicians amongst the producers. Yes we have bigger names coming through like Macabre Unit and Fused Forces that we support, but just because an artist is unknown, it doesn't make them rubbish. What has the popularity of an artist got to do with anything. Please check out our Soundcloud and listen to the music.
Yes we were extremely surprised to be nominated as we only started in October but I think it's unfair to single us out in the Best New label category as the worst.
We have a huge line up on our digital line up and an even bigger release sheet for our vinyl releases with our first release by Fused Forces already ready for Pre-order. The free compilation series where we back a large amount of artists will be coming out twice a year along with support from graphic designers and photographers where we will show case their art and release free wall paper packs. Our merchandise section will also appeal to the street artists with a huge sticker series of 25000 of each sticker being printed and to top it all, in June we will also have our own Fent Plate Shisha.
Based on potential we feel we will really push the deeper side to Dubstep well and hope to continue to do so.
As far as our website is concerned. Yes, it's absolutely terrible and for the last week we have been designing the non flash site. It is almost complete and I will Pm you to show that we are improving our online activity.
Hope this is some way puts a justification as to why we were nominated.
All the best.

big up FentPlates
Re: ***DSF AWARDS 2011***>>>>> 6 DAYS LEFT!!!
thousands of people nominated soundcloud. its used by thousands of members on this site. take a look at dubs forum alone, then the mixes forum. its a democratic nominated category. end of story.
Re: ***DSF AWARDS 2011***>>>>> 7 DAYS LEFT!!!
Funny you say no disrespect, then go on to be a very disrespectful prick....£10 Bag wrote:Not sure what's on with the new label category either. No disrespect to anyone involved, but Fent Plates, seriously?

i never realised we were voting on how attractive a website was!, could've told me before i voted!
Also, just because they are pushing unknown artists, doesn't mean people should rule them out! at least theyre trying to push new talent huh?
Being one of them 'unknown artists' with our release due next week, i can happily say that fentplates have been unbelievably professional with us, they have kept us up to date, and send out a big message to all of the FP roster updating everyone as to what they are doing and shit... they CARE about the artists they have. They deserve to be there, the music they are releasing is of a very high standard, just because producers are unknown does NOT mean that labels shouldn't take a chance on them. Where would we be if no labels would take chances on unheard of producers?....If it wasn't for labels like fentplates then im sure many producers wouldn't get recognised, and after all, that is there aim!
Pretty immature and pathetic to single out specific people etc, if they didnt deserve to be there, then im pretty sure they wouldnt be there?
