non-generic questions about resampling bass
hey guys
so i'm really getting into resampling now i just have a couple questions.. i do the usual split into 3 send channels low/mid/high and effect from there but i was wondering what to do for sub bass ? do you just layer the resampled sound on a sine or what? like i want the sub to have the same movement as the resample if the makes sense (is there alot of work involved?).. or do you create another instance of the patch and take all the fx off? ive been trying to figure it out and find answers on the grid and DSF but haven't really found anything to relevant.. any advice / info would be great
cheers

Re: non-generic questions about resampling bass
make another copy of the same synth with the same midi playing just a sine wav. however usually I keep the subs separate all together from the resampling process and make a subbass in midi to go with your high-passed chopped up samples
Re: non-generic questions about resampling bass
throughout your stages of resampling, include a sub layer (either a seperate entity or a split/processed version) with the same modulations, etc. but cut down on high/band pass filtering and distortion and stuff. bounce this layer with your midrange thing. if you bounce/process more, do it again.

Re: non-generic questions about resampling bass
the only problem with this way is if all your bass samples in the final bassline weren't from the same take sometimes the volume of the sub changes and you can either try to multiband compress it out which is a bit sloppy or redo the subs entirely so there exactly how you want themgravity wrote:throughout your stages of resampling, include a sub layer (either a seperate entity or a split/processed version) with the same modulations, etc. but cut down on high/band pass filtering and distortion and stuff. bounce this layer with your midrange thing. if you bounce/process more, do it again.
also don't forget, theres no rule saying the sub-bass has to follow the synths exactly
Re: non-generic questions about resampling bass
well another option is to bounce it seperately but always include it as a layer with your mids. so whenever you bounce, you do 2 bounced, one with the mids muted and one with the sub muted. you put these both together and now you have complete control over both elements without any need for frequency splitting or whatever.
