take the rest, split it in two - with one half buy all as much good real estate as possible, and invest the other half and live off the interest from both.

I would want a real old £500 000 Neve mixing desk like we have at uni. Studer tape machine, Sunn guitar amps. Loads of guitars. A couple modular synths (over £20 000 each). Nice drum kit. Mics (sexy Neumann U-87 included which sets you back £2000 each). All acoustic treatment done properly. Some peng hardware compressors and pre amps and shit

I'd be obscene in terms of setting up a studio.
