haha yes i know thats why i posted my song in the Works in Progress thread and not the complete tracks feedback , some criticism or ideas would be better than stating the obvious my friend :D

but yes i will work on it later when i get home like tomorrow , i got to go now maybe i'll get an intro down , definately some hihats tho , i was working on bass synthesis and not drums cause i can make drum patterns i think!

anyway peace out

NAcklewicket, it seems ok to me, to be honest, I'd cut some more low end off it, below 90hz and then turn it up a tad. BAss drum could do with some low cut too.

@Nacklewicket: Sub sounds fine to me (and my setup), really sits nice with the kick, all tho to make sure i yurned the sub right up and still sounded good. sounds really clean and nice delays too, . the bongo thingy at 1:50 sounds good but i think its too much in the forground (imo) , all the elements are good curious to know what ul do with this ^^

@Jbe : wasnt expecting it to drop like this but was pleasently surprised, nicly done. really like the minimal techno elements mixed with the organic ones, buy yea as wub said at about 3 mins in it a bit of switch up would be nice theres the hat ride at about 3:31 after that i thought it might switch up or new elements brought in but all in all really good and sounding done imo

@sarharadubstep: thanks man, maybe a pad at the intro will help. relistend your track still liking it, maybe in the intro you could put some grass rustling or other ambience (just an idea). bass is nice and kick hits hard good stuff ^^

@filthy_ cheers man, marching snares a good idea, ... likin your track, real slow groove, went abit too mental for me but big kick and clean mix, cept maybe some of those faster wobbles, seemed abit unclean on my sub. like the intro sample lol, lookin forward to what you do for the intro ^^

@Debaser: looked forward to this after hearing duck shreadder! , really liked that switched up beat in there and how it effortlessly slows down again. ,,, not to sure how keen i am on the drop. bit 0:54 kicked ass for me!

@3za: Really like this melody, nicely played could see this being a great track (: , FAWN? is that the febuary album month thing? do you need anything to remix have a good piano one available ^^

@oprs: mario dieing in slow motion (: then a siren to annonce bowsers rise to power sounds like. the synth didnt seem powerful enouth at the drop, maybe layering it or more oscilators?, dont really dig the slow risers but liked the idea.

@craggle: yea like this all the elements sound good, maybe the kick could do with sorting or switching (imo) , be interesting to see what other instruments you add (if you do).

@nonxero: That first blip is a bit jaring hi end freqwise (imo) , nice sounds! really big clean kick, liking the handmade feel of those triggerd samples, 2 kinda sounded off to me about 0:51 0:55 0:58 (mo)
really liked it, kept me wanting to listen more.

@kes-es: I dont like the bloopy things that run thru the track in my opinion (some random of the internet :) ) but i think the rest of the its really good if not abit muddy, i like the pace of the beat and that reverd snare stick. Blue stuff is so awesome, i wouldnt know what to say to improve it, really like it, want it ^^

@Nacklewicket - Really nice feel to your track. I like it. Some Distance-esque lead bass sounds throughout would really pull the whole track together I think. I agree with @Debaser1, the sub could do with a little low-cut and turning up. I love the drums - really chilled, but not boring. I think the clap sound could be a little more original. Try synthesising a white noise snare and mixing your clap, your synth snare and another sound (stone hitting concrete maybe?) and messing with their levels.

@BlackLotus - Cool stuff - you've got some nice sounds in there. Try sticking in a melody and some hi-hats to occupy the high frequencies. I like your kick sound, it fits really nicely into the mix. I think a little more sub wouldn't go amiss, although it might just be my phenomenally shit monitors. Try slowing down the LFO and throwing in some new synth sounds when you change up the drums to make it obvious that it's the really brutal, beat-down part. If you haven't heard it, have a listen to Dubba Jonny's Brief Introduction to Dubstep if you haven't already heard it. It's not particularly serious, but there are some genuinely useful tips in there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkYhneTczXo

Here's the finished version of the track I've been working on. I'm not going to be making any more changes on it, although I'll never turn down feedback :)

@Jakedubber: Thanks for the sick fb ^^ . (: im going to go look at the sub on the drop now and look to try out some 1/4 variation. I actually took that advice on my other wip. Maybe you can help me on ^^
Your track sounds sick, nothing i could say to improve it well done ^^ and thanks for the download!! (= think il go mix it with debasers1 - conformer - duckshredder.

@debasers1: Thanks for duck-shredder download too!

0o subs are abit all over the place any advice gladly appreciated. theres 3 diffrent synths doing sub at diffrent times. short ones, long ones and everything after 2:06 is a diffrent sub.
short ones i had the most problems with.

dennis was a little skeptical when it first started but the pause before everything was a little to long, the snare is a little to high, but the rush back before the drop was really nice. finish it man.

wow thank you everyone for the great feedback!
Debaser1 wrote:@Filthy: I kinda like how sparse youve made the drum line, bass sound is filthy as fuck - nice reverb on it too. Needs some more variations on percussion to keep me interested. Intro was live as well man.
ive worked on the drums a bit. i wanted to keep them minimal, as you pointed out, to focus more on the drive and the basses groove element. added in some hats and other stuff that pretty straight forward to keep it a bit more interesting.

CoreyGoesRawr wrote:Filthy- nice sample reminds me of Forgetting Sarah Marshall :cornlol: I like the direction you are going with your bass but it sounds a hollow, try adding a sub underneath it to give it more umph. maybe chop the sample up and bring part of it back in at some point so it doesn't feel neglected lol you are headed in the right direction though.
i got the sub bass in there. im still tweaking it as it gets kind of raspy on certain notes but i got the sub portion to boom on the sub and i split it to a mid section as well so you can just hear it through an iphone speaker and shitty head phones. this way no one is left out from say sub & drum bridge. i brought the samples back twice more but only a word or two each. i plan to further elaborate on it a little more and expand the whole track so there is a softer section bridging the harder sections together so its not constant drive for 3-4 minutes.
3za wrote: @ filthy_; The drop nearly made me shit my self
I would get some more hats in their to add a bit of suffle, also think it could do with a little switch up in the middle. Outro is lovly man :W:
thanks man. i put in some hats and a little bit of variation. i also did a little more with the outro so it doesnt just come to a halt.
oprs wrote: filthy haha the name suits ya, the panning was really nice. even dug the clip stood out at 1:41 man something about the way that all flowed had me chills goin.
thanks. that was my first attempt with resampling drums so it was all experimental. ill just say i got lucky with all the modulation :)

Kes-Es wrote:Filthy- I think this is one of the sickest tracks I've heard in a while, not complaints, if it were me I might use a harder kick, and some hats, but everything sounds really polished, A little repetitive too, I'd maybe add some robotic incidentals or stuff to emphasize the vampire bit, That part gets a little lost in the song, but this is really sick, nice work man.
im working on the kick actually. thats why i didnt have a sub at first as it was literally fighting it and clipping all over the place at -10db :corntard: been working on some EQing so hopefully i can get it to hit a little bit harder.

ill definitely try to add some robot sounds in the intro, as well as make the intro a bit longer and interesting. thats definitely a good idea. thanks man

Nacklewicket wrote:filthy_ - LOVE the panning work in the intro. sweet drop and bass!!! but percussion is REALLY empty.. to u aswell, throw in some WICKED percussion an u got urself a wicked tune. really nice dark vibe to it totally digging this!! kick maybe bit too present for my taste but still works wonders :corndance:
thanks man! i dont want the drums to be too crazy, unlike my usual work, as i want it to help drive the basses and let the low / mid basses take control of the melody.

i agree with the faster wobbles. the clean ones are giving me a bit of trouble and i think im going to completely redo that whole section as a lighter part, perhaps and interlude. need to experiment with that. thanks for the feedback as well!

@dennis1 - I'm a big fan of the intro. I kinda think you could do with some extra synths in your track post-drop or a different synth sound to the one you have. I'm just not a fan of that kinda dubstep to be fair, it's just personal preference. If you like it then keep it. I half agree with @oprs about the pause between build and drop. I like the length, but I reckon something should be there. A vocal sample maybe, or just some delay on the snare, fading and filtering away. It just lets people with bad timing have an idea when to expect the drop. I think the snare could come down a bit. I can't really suggest much more until there's more to comment on. Good stuff.

@fbac - I'm glad you found it helpful :) Looking forward to hearing this mix. I'm flattered. I like what you've got so far on this track. Nice melody synth. The whole thing is really bouncy and dancey, which I like, but I think it'd be awesome to drop into something a little more dubsteppy. LFO modulated bass with a sidechain compressor sounds kinda cool, and keeps the dance feel. I messed around with that kind of sound in the summer when I was just starting out (hence its shitness) http://music.jakedubber.com/track/day-28. Just sidechain the compressor on your wobble bass with your kick signal, bring down the threshold and mess with the attack and release parameters. Of course, If that isn't the kind of thing you're looking to do then feel free to totally ignore me :D Good start on a great track.

@filthy_ - The whole thing sounds way better man. Great sounds :) I reckon when the vocal sounds come back in they could be a little louder. Your drums are really nice. I like the little glitch sounds around the main beat. I think your snare could come down in the mix a bit and your kick could be a little bassier, but not uberly. Not subby, but just so it sounds less like your snare.

nonXero, that chrome island track is awesome, the only thing I suggest is lowering that beeping sound a few dbs. I don't know much production wise, but this is clean, dark and just plain out awesome once again.
nacklewicket, loving it so far, make sure you post the finished track I'd love to hear it :corndance:

deniss1, the sub sounds just fine on my end, nice track btw

now once again I haven't been producing long about half a month, I stopped working on my last track because the vocals were starting to annoy me. And this is a little side project that I've been trying to get going. Not even close to complete, and I still haven't finished the first drop(W.I.P.)

Sorry it took so long to come back with some feedback. Ended up working a 16 hour shift the other day, then I had some family stuff to deal with.

@Antman: Clown Killer is very generic sounding. The samples you used all sound very bland. The drums feel really lifeless, as well as the synths. I think it would help to bright some stuff up with reverb/delay and some chorus. It just sounds very stock. I liked the setup between the bass and the melody. It was simply, but it worked for what you were doing. I would definitely put in some more work on processing the sounds more.

@Isturite: REally liking that doorfinder track. I like the glitchy beat samples. The bass is really nice. I like the rise and drops in the bass, pretty good idea there. I would actually consider using less crazy effects in the beat. Not so much less, but a little less frequent. They sort of take away from the groove of the actual beat itself sometimes.

@3za: I'm gonna guess the one you have is probably Lost In A Dream. Probably the only one I've made that anyone has really been on about, that and maybe Stargazing. I've actually had a lot of people email me for wav files of that one. I guess I can thank the Dubstepish compilations for that.

As for the Track you posted....I actually wasn't expecting the piano. I was waiting for something to drop, but then I realized it was just a piano instrumental piece. It's not bad. The piano could use a bit of life with some effects maybe, but overall it's a pretty solid progression. I could actually see the hook being used in some tracks I've heard.

@Fbac: The intro is pretty solid. I like the offbeat wobble, adds a nice groove to the beat. I like the vocal clips.....Gwen Stefani? It's lacking in low end a lot though. The kick could definitely use a bit more low end, and the sub is virtually unnoticed with what I'm listening to it with atm. Usually these headphones are actually a bit heavy on the bass as well. The sub at about the 2:06 mark is much heavier. There's actually some sub presence with that. I would definitely utilize more of that in the rest of the track. I think, aside from that, I would phatten up the mid range bass with some chorus, reverb, maybe a flanger or something.

@nacklewicket The sub is not too loud. Its perfect to me. Sweet track, im no professional but I have nothing to complain about.

@Jakedubber A fantastic peice of work. Real dirty. Love it. Thank you for the download!

@Deniss1 Sick remix... The pitch may be a pit too high at around 1.05 not that bad though just a suggestion to bring it down a TINY TINY bit.

Ok guys ive read everyones feedback and reworked my track a little. I pretty much rewrote it with a way better structure and even added some samples lemme know what you think and what you think needs more work etc! Thanks again guys!

Btw the original is still up on my soundscloud so you can listen and compare them if you want!
