40 dollar's worth of planks and bass pickups, build yourself a whamola, seems itd be more fun to play with anyway, though far less ethereal sounding.

I'm literally lying in bed thinking about this... all said and done, with a few sets of pickups, some strings, some tuning pegs, and a box... like $300 tops in parts from used sources.

This can all easily be done by sticking some long delay on a guitar eg steve vais slower songs

Backing track makes it looks alot more impressive than it is. Lay a guitar and a bass next to eacher and play using hammer ons, prepare backing on daw of choice and presto!
