I was 16 or 17, was on a bit of farmland. Proper nice setup had a stage setup that bands were playing on in the beginning of the night then DJ's later and a chemical decontamination tent that was playing psytrance and stuff like that. There was a little lake, a forrest, a bar, loads of nice places to chill on haybales. At one point they set off a load of fireworks and there was loads of people dressed in fancydress e.g. stormtroopers etc. Turned into a bit of a mudbath cos of the time of year, it was April I think. Found my mate at one point sitting down in the mud blabbering on about how he thought he was on a beach. Did 3 or 4 decent pills, was a great night.

Re: Do you remember your first ever rave...
my first rave was at the age of nearly 10. my brother took me to the local dnb rave...
of course no drugs or so. but i was overwhelmed by the bass, the beats and of course the people.
will never forget that.
never.
probably one of the main reasons why i live and feel like i do righ tnow.
always haunting that... feeling. the feeling of breaking out of this world for hours - and then to realise, that the rality afterwoods is depressing.

Thats what always gets me, especially after multiday teknivals, going back into the real world is horrible.vulvavibration wrote:the feeling of breaking out of this world for hours - and then to realise, that the rality afterwoods is depressing.

Re: Do you remember your first ever rave...
jealous of anyone who got to go to all the illegal raves, vibes sound immense. Far too many people on coke when you go out nowadays. All about the shared empathy and not about the aggy paranoia.
First rave I guess would be new year subdub in 2008 (can't believe it is that long ago). Had been feeling down for ages which made me go fuck it I am trying some pills. Literally had no idea what music I was listening to, had no idea of the difference between dubstep and dnb back then lol. Anyway had an amazing night of loving everyone and feelin happy surprise surprise and have loved it ever since.

just about remember!
we used to put punk/metal nights on in our small town. piled out of the venue to be asked if we wanted to go to a party. as we were mainly on speed and acid we needed somewhere to go, so we jump in the back of a van.
what seemed hours later we're disembarking at some railway embankment to a massive free party. i'd thought dance music was for casuals and townies before then, but lots of people with haircuts as strange as ours and dreads, and lots of fun things going on. first night i saw electronic music work in that way, other than it be some pop thing. would be about 94/95.

Re: Do you remember your first ever rave...
I think my first rave was One World in Somerset, I was probably about 12. I remember some dutch guy trying to sell my dad pills and my dad insinuating that if it had been 10 years ago he probably would... mad krusty rave festival, I'm sure my parents kept me away from the grottier stuff but I remember it was pretty dutty nonetheless..
eff knows who played, think it got shut down the following year cos someone died..

Re: Do you remember your first ever rave...
the first real rave i went to was a few years back, all I remember is sitting in a cutout tree for about an hour then going to dance my ass off. Almost lost my phone.. Luckily the underground is coming back so the warehouse partys of before are becoming a reality again

Can't remember which was the actual first, but this was one of the first;
Police closed the barn-gate locking 100 people inside & maced a whole crowd outside. Everyone ran round the back, ripped holes in the correlated metal shit. Meanwhile round the front, people ripped the gate down. Was intense. Not all about the hardtrance any more but it's a laugh.
Went all the way to London on NYE to a party that never happened, meanwhile in Bris;
Took the piss.

hmm yeah, I entered this thread thinking it was referring to free parties, not club nights.wubstep wrote:I cringe when I hear legal/club nights called 'raves'.
Once you go to a decent free party, going to a club feels tame as fuck.
Saying that, DMT at Lakota a few weeks ago was fucking intense, wall to wall systems (literally), 8 rooms, half of them in disused courthouse. Was essentially a legal squat party. Something very poetic about people getting out of their minds in a former house of law.
My first rave was in a field near where I live, fucking crazy, that was a good summer!

Thats bs, I've had equally a good time at both club and illegals.
I dunno, maybe its just that I'm not obsessed with taking loads of drugs and staying up for 48hrs anymore.
maybe his magical jew carpenter compelled him to speak out

Re: Do you remember your first ever rave...
I remember spending hours in the back of a big white van with a few mates, sitting on matresses before opening the back door to a rave in the woods. Ended up MC'ing for some of the night, but overall, it was far too cold and muddy for me. I don't do drugs, so always felt bored and cold at raves.
+ having the rave broken up @ 7am by police, then finding the van had been parked on a hill and slid into a ditch. I didn't enjoy helping to get the van out of it that early in the morning with no sleep lol.

Free party, in Whitney in Oxford, in a warehouse. Police stormed it. Bangin party.

I wouldn't really call it pedantic, I've only been to one club that was even remotely on par with something like a freeparty. Granted they aren't for everyone and there definitely are shit ones.
Clubnight at the weekend;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ww8ZdI4goAI
That's 18 Void Psychos running from one side of the room to the other, another 8 primes on top. You simply don't get that in many clubs lol.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVK2Gh5GMno
Random surface in the room, not even a speaker.
Kinda irrelevant but these videos brought it all bad, sick night.
