Oh boy, thank the lord this post popped up.

I own the MPC 2500 and the Emu SP1200. I've just ordered the S90 for the SP1200 to increase the sampling time but keep the 12 bit grittyness!

I love to use the Korg Radias, Access Virus, and Little Phatty and sample them into the 2500. For example, I will design a bassline sound with one of the synths and then sample 1-3 keys and put each sample on a pad. I will then mess with the filters, cutoff and LFO and sample them into the MPC. In the end I will have around 32 sounds on the pads.

Hook the MPC up to Logic/Ableton (I'm now an Ableton user - was a Logic evangelist) via midi and fux with the bassline. You can create some very interesting, and complex sounding riffs.

I'll usually bounce the audio, save the bank and the song (incase I need it later).

I love the 80's and early 90's hip hop and try to include some of that in my Dubstep. Necro and Ill Bill are idols (although not early producers they keep that early sound in their music). If I find a spooky sound, or some broken jazz, I will chop it, and put that into my Dubstep using the MPC.

Yeah it's pretty loud, but i only have it on while i save/load stuff so it's not a problem.

Am I tripping, I didn't respond to this, did someone?d Sorry for the delay.

My thoughts on the ex are watch out a little, that is a playable instrument, and the one you are buying may have been played heavily for like over a decade.

The fx in there are dope, and that ex can *truely* resample itself, unlike the other sp's for a long time, and then only just barely.

Tricky think about the ex, it has NO SEQUENCER. Think on that a minute. You just record phrases, resample them, then trigger those. That is a little crazy. It may be real hard to build a song in there, but you definitely could build really solid chunks, of pure groove. That is for real. I was real close to picking one up recently. I really like the resampling feature. I need at a minimum though, a one track sequencer.

My advice, check out the box first, make sure all the pads and buttons work. Try and get the guy to explain how the thing works, check every botton, switch, pad, knob. And if it is solid, buy it and get ready to truly play in all your parts.
