It's been a sweet beginning to the New Year, I got to interview one of my favorite up and coming artists, BARE. And my co-editor Rolls Royce hit up PROLIFIC. A little sample of each:
FLD: What artist/song/event drew you into producing dubstep?
BARE: From the get go it was my long time good friend Raoul (6Blocc).
He kept hitting me up telling me “yo u should start making dubstep, I think you would do super well with that”. I eventually did and wow… Look where I’m at now
As far as songs go. Early Bar9 biz is what sealed the deal for me.
FLD: How does the American Dubstep scene compare to the European scene in your experience?
Prolfic: They both have their strengths and weaknesses, I always take the positives out of all my situations in life. I love all my fans and promoters that put on our shows everywhere The only thing I would point out is the as a negative is the USA scene just has a lot of politics which are bullshit IMO. People want to say oh we can’t book you because you aren’t on this agency or you aren’t in our cool club. Bottom line is this right here, if you pull people and sell tickets and liquor who gives a fuck? Knock that political shit off and put on talent and quit trying filter people because of their style or name or whatever.
PROLIFIC is set to play a show at Fubar this week alongside 6BLOCC. Looking forward to that, then we're bringing in HULK, and right after that the EXCISION Subsonic tour is coming through. The Tampa dubstep scene is blowing up right now and it's fucking awesome
Prolific is easily an industry mastermind as well as a musical genius.
But that’s me man hard, fast, destructive, ready to put my money where my mouth is with anybody at any time!
I was hustling on the streets of New Orleans and my boy said “Yo son let’s hit these raves up we will break so much bread"
I know I’m in it for the long frame and not a bandwagon jumper.
I'm dying here
"I have always been a talented musician"
"I don’t look for influences I look to influence other people with my music and my style."
"I do it for love and proper tunage not for money"
"FLD: What do you think Dubstep expresses about contemporary urban culture?
Prolific: It makes girls dance, people go crazy, buildings quake so I’m all about it."
seriously? these guys are coming to nz...... oh dear
