Need help creating bassline sound (NOT a wobble)
Hey guys..
I tried the best I could to research and I don't know what this is. It doesn't seem to be a wobble. I don't even know what genre this is.. I'm really hoping you guys can help.. I tried for hours and hours and usually I'm good with getting a sound but this I'm finding impossible.. I thought it would be triangles or something. The thing with this sound is that it has to sound 'just like' this sound or it won't come out proper.
The easiest place I could find the sound is on the DJ Q show on 1Xtra:
Skip to 22:45min to hear the exact sound I'm talking about.
Also another song at 34:15min
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b00xn7x4
Any help would be greatly appreciate! I don't know why I'm finding this so difficult.

Thats called a 'bassline' wobble...Bassline being the northern-chav version of dubstep.
Start with either a triangle or a square.
Attach LFO > Filter.
Add a low decay/susstain, minimal release : Play around with settings till you can only play one short note whats just a single 'wob' (you want a one-shot)
Add Resonance onto your filter till its warping.. Mess with pitch.

Mess with the envelope on the amp/filter too. Sounds more like a envelope on each note hit rather than a LFO that's automated.

Forgot about that bitbigfootspartan wrote:Mess with the envelope on the amp/filter too. Sounds more like a envelope on each note hit rather than a LFO that's automated.
If none of this makes sense, tell us what synth you're using, it'll be easier to explain.

Yup, get into american electro and uk bassline and this will become a very familiar sound indeed.
you can also substitute the lfo for a creative envelope going off with the kick/snare.
And dont forget to not play the notes on the keys, rather hold the root and pitch bend to your others.
/yeah its a formula, sue me.
...you guys beat me too it, I was in hear typing

wow fast responses!
I'm using Massive if that helps. I'm not an expert of anything hehe.. I would REALLY love to know how to do this sound.
I thought that the sound could have been an analog whistle layered of some sub bass but I doubt that highly.
Every time I tried to search for bassline I got the typical wobbles. But this sound I seem to hear more on the songs with female vocalists it seems.. or it's a 'lighter' sound. I really need this!

From massives init patch...
Osc 1 > Square wave of some sort Osc 2 > Some Saw wave, switch the harmonics up on em a bit make it more buzzy/whistley, put the filter slider thingys the whole way to the top so they go 100% filter one, use lowpass4, its got a steep cutoff slope, and turn its resonance up a bit, assign the performer or the envelope controller to its cutoff, and then assign another envelope to the amp's of the oscs... get the filter moving first, then adjust the amp envelope so it works with your rhythm.
