The national crime map service website has been launched;

http://www.police.uk/

Drop in your postcode, and it'll give you a breakdown of the number of crimes near your property within the last month or so. My postcode currently gives the following;

Huzzah for the levels of vehicle crime that are keeping my insurance premium up!

[koro inu]

i been looking for the url, putting 'postcode+crime+finder' into google doesn't turn it up.

we're in the country, so low crime figures for where we are. looking for the whole postcode included burnley and colne, which aren't great for crime.

Most of the ASB reports seem to be centred around the outside of the local Wetherspoons

Worked really well last night when I went on (1500 crimes in my area in December 2010) but seems stuffed today. Too much publicity..

Only 40 something crimes in my area when I checked earlier, didn't really expect anymore than that.

I guess living so close to Orpington and the Cray Valley is dragging the average down, as my immediate surroundings are quite nice... A 10 minute walk eastwards and it's a very different story. Out of a grand total of 237 crimes, 52 of them were committed to the west of my house and 185 of them were to the east of my house

I hope this spawns a street crime version of top trumps.
