for what? any hardware stuff generally goes in here and any mixes you've made go in the mixes section.

Ahh I agree it would be a nice idea to have a DJ topic section.

Raise the idea with the forum admins/mods... see if they like it.

it would keep some of the dumb topics from here about decks/cdjs/headphones, but they will always come here for pa, monitor and amp advice
would never work
its like when people ask for techniques for djing you can only teach so much

If I had to take a stab it's because there is probably another forum out there for DJing.

The topics:
"How to beatmatch"
"How to use a 3 channel EQ"
"Mixing styles - smooth blends or hard slams?"
"How to choose cue points"
"How to program a set"
"Key Mixing"
"Gear"

That's basically everything you could ever talk about.

Me n JFK n some of the guys tried to make a DJ bible a while back, like how we have the production bible, and we realized basically what Deadly n Decklyn said, theres only so much you can teach about DJing, unlike production it really is an on-your-feet kinda talent, and shy of deck/cdj/mixer/other hardware concerns, theres not much to talk about, surely not enough that would merit a forum. Frankly this place is already too riddled with subforums... look at the hiphop section and see how ignored it is, and tell me you wanna make MORE subforums.

EDIT... some of you regulars should swing into hiphop sometime and breathe some life in that board...

hey now i love the hip[ hop and other music boards more than the main boards even though i rarely post in em
but yeah djing you can teach techniques, you can't teach style and selection and natural shit
it's like those scratch dvds and videos that teach the basics, you can post and learn that, but you can't teach say a dmc winning routine
would be nice to have a thread or two discussing shit like that and what works here and there
one of the things i hate most about djing is all the diff setups you have to adapt to when playing live

Fair play, I knew there would be a good reason for it. :W:
