@jamiecypher: (Clown on Her) Nice build up to a sick drop. The vocal sample right before the wobble kicked in was sick. That brings me to the wobble. It Hard as fuck and very dirty. The lead synth in the background also gave it a really nice feel. The chopped up vocals near the middle were awesome. They reminded me of some DJ screw which was nice to hear on a dubstep site. If you'd be willing to share what sound that is I'd love to know. I also really liked the outro, perfect finish in my opinion. Nice work.

@Bass Sedation: (Beast) Very interesting composition It really pulled me in from the very beginning. I felt like I had to know what was going to happen next. i enjoyed the groove of the whole thing. The only complaint I had was that the low end was pretty low aside from the intro. That's just my opinion, but i think if you bass it up the whole thing would sound better.

@4Cysdub: Very spacey with a nasty fuckin' bass. The wobble is dope but I also really like the rhythm it has. It nice to hear a nice wobble sound with a nice rhythm to go along with it. Your sub bass was amazing, although as you said, I think just a tad to high. I don't know how to get mine that deep but still be so smooth. If you'd be willing to give me some pointer I'd appreciate it. Anyway, dope track. I'll smoke a blunt to this one for sure.

So I just started making dubstep. I Put 3 of my first track into the finished post and thought I'd through some of my new shit up here instead. Any pointers would be great, especially the levels. I'm on the fence as to whether or not some things are too loud or too soft. I use Reason 5, if anyone else uses Reason and has some tips for it let me know.

@Fbac - Haha, 9 hours a night :) Making dubstep is what I do when I'm procrastinating (which is pretty much all the time).

wiseman- annihilation sounds nice. i dig the shit out of it. the deeper growl wobble sounds a little out of place.

asterix- i think it could go without the vox in it honestly. its got not a nice mellow feel to it. what do you use?

not even sure if should continue, first time messing about with anything like that.

Here's the finished version of the Campfire Dub:

Just thought I'd share where everyone's feedback got me. Thanks alot guys :Q:

@asterix: I'm super tired, so I didn't listen to all of it, but it sounds like your synth is a little soft compared to the drums. I feel like it should be pronounced. I'll listen to it more closely tomorrow.

Soz been away for a while lads, been away with work, things are looking hot for me this year, its my one! anyways lets get down to some tunarge

Asterix/ Synths are too thin for my liking, Percs are nice and sharp and punchy. Pretty good production but does not feel like it goes anywhere to me. Good start but id layer a few more sounds in there and your about there.

The wiseman/ Annihilation - Very euro/trance intro there mate. The mids on the synth and vocal are bit muddy and make the mix a bit crowded/messy sounding. Drop is massive, That bass synth is stunning. Its proper nasty this it just sounds a little bit over done/crowded for my liking. but a pretty dam good track all the same.

Jake dubber/ Bassline melody is a bit random. Bass synth aint too bad and your sub sounds pretty good. Track feels like it needs to go somwhere there kinda just plods along.
Not feeling the notes/chords of this one at all im afraid its just all a bit random. keep at it.

Sonic arts/ Bit different this one aint it. Nice laid back feel to it, kinda gives me an oldschool Marlow feel. Not a fan of that main synth the melody is a bit odd. Getting a kind of eastern feel to it as well. Pretty good stuff mate, just tighten up the mix down. good stuff

Pyro/ Very nasty, love all the lil chopped up dnb drum lines in there man. Bit too repetitive for me needs to go somewhere else imo. Production aint bad but seems to lack a bit of technicality.

Now to my tracks,

Outside Your Own head is my newest, its nearly there i think. Very melodic let me know what you think needs checking before it hits the dubs forum!
Blindside and The portrait ive got down as finished but feel free to have a listen and let me know if there is more work to be done.

Enjoy!

@Asterix: I don't really like the melody for the intro synth... Sounds all over the place. The wobble is a bit too basic both the modulation and the sound. Try personalizing the sound by experimenting... Also try to use scales or notes within a chord progression to create a better melody. Google those things if you need to. The vocal sample doesn't quite feel as part of the tune, work on it!

@The Wiseman: The intro a bit too much for my taste. The high wobble a bit too high maybe? And too many snares and bass drums... Reminds me of a blast beat somehow. But ignoring that, I like the feel of the tune and the vocals are awesome!

@oprs: I don't know man... Looks like it needs A LOT of work. The beginning sounds pretty ok though... The high pitched stuff at 0:23 sounds a bit annoying. Choose some better notes and bring it an octave down or something.

@RatRaceProducing: Outside Your Own Head: Really love the melody. Could use a better wobble... It sounds a bit tortured, too high pitched? Or maybe it's just me. Nice break at 2:45! Overall awesome tune!

Here's mine! Another glitchy drumstep! I guess it's almost finished but I wanted to post it here first... Maybe you guys could help me make it better. I don't really know how to master properly so if there's any specific tips in that area I would greatly appreciate it!

Sorry for having to make you go to the soundcloud page but I really can't release it yet... Just listen... It's worth it!

@PyroClasm I absolutely love your track, its Big, full of energy, and has a dark touch to it. It's a little repetetive, but I think its good enough to get away with it, fantastic work mate.

@TheWiseman Annihilation is F***ing Amazing, I love the high Impact, the trancy energeticness, mix with that excellent hardcore Steppage, the break is fantastic, Talent...I'm speechless.
^^ If you dont mind me asking, how long have you been doing this?

@Asterix Your drums sound really good. I really like your bass drum, although I would like to hear some drum fills. Great synths, drop is dope too.

@TRIANGL I know I'm not the only one who said this but the reverb snare is a little heavy. Your sounds are great though. I love the 8 bit sound. I know you where concerned about over using your lead. I really like it, I think just so people dont get bored I would have it change a little maybe halfway through and then bring it back to the original melody. Great first Dub.

@Notbellm I totally dig the beginning. That shits so chill my computer froze while I was listening to it. I like what your trying to do fuzing the chilled and dirty. On your transition I like the build and then the little bass slide/drop but when your dirty part comes in I think it needs more beef. Maybe just a single quarter note vowel or something but just something to make a "Hey filthy's here" statement. Good start though.

Ok so I'm basically stuck on where to go from here. I know that I need to work on my sub bass and I have a lot volume issues, as in alternating parts sometimes dont match velocities etc. Looking for any feedback I can get and any ideas on where to go with the song next. I was thinking maybe a breakdown?

@reNICKulous I definately like your track, the shift from clean to dirty when the rythym picks up, Very well done, I'm pretty new to this, but I would say yes, to the breakdown, but, then again, i love breakdowns. I'd love to hear the finished track. Cheers

Woh, this community is pretty awesome.
The thread got started yesterday and is up to 3 pages allready. Hats off to you guys :)

reNICKulous:
I like the sound on that synth that more or less goes throughout the entire song, provides a nice atmosphere for the track. The rythm and drumpatterning is also really sweet, and the part after 1.24 is killer!
I really don't have much negative to say about this composition wise or whatnot, thought it was really good all over really. :) Only thing that needs some work the way I see it is the mixing and mastering.

RatRaceProducing:
Daimn. Tight stuff! Really crispy and pro sounding. Love those pan'ed wobbles, not to mention the rythm switch at 2.20ish. Sick tune!

Pyroclasm:
Abit repetitive but pro sounding. That style is usually not my cup of tea but well made and that, and that growl bass drop is sweet :)

Here is my most recent attempt at putting blocks of audio waves on top of each other to make it sound like music:

@ reNICKulous: it's got loads of potential! you just need to sort out the levels and frequencies and you're pretty much sorted. but yeah add another drop it it and mix up the rate of the wobbles :}

@ RatRaceProducing: new tune is sick! maybe when the song drops, use a different snare? i dunno.. didn't like the snare with the bass. other than that it's sick

@ jakedubber: your sounds are all over the place, mix it down more then it will sound better. good work though

@ The Wiseman: mate i use Reason 5.0, if you wanna add me on AIM and we can chat.. but yeah your levels and volumes are too much lol add for Aim is nibzdub

@FRasch: Thanks for the feedback! glad it sounds okay to other people lol. as for your new one i like it alot, apart from the bass is overpowering everything else. Sort out the frequenciy levels and it will be so much better!

Thanks for the advice, man. I'll try to dive into that production bible tonight to see if I can get a firmer grasp on the mixing/mastering bit :)
