Hey everyone,
I am very new here and this was also posted in the mixes section, but I received no feedback. So now I am wondering whether that was the right place to put it!
I am quite a new DJ, just started to take this seriously and push to get myself played out. All I am wondering is how my mixes sound to people who actually do DJ and/or listen to Dubstep, as most of my feedback has come from DnB DJ's.
I have been practising for only a year, and I am told this is a very short time for a DJ, so I know that there are a obvious mistakes in there that need to be ironed out. But really, any criticism is welcome as am really interested to see how people feel about it!

Thank you in advance.

Oh, and one last thing, I am not sure if this is the right way to do things, but I prefer to record myself in one take, I don't re-record all the time to make it perfect. The reason I do this is because I believe it to be a truer show of my level, and I believe that way it is easier to criticise . Is that the right way to think about this?

nice thread labelling, but we have a mixes forum. I'll move this there. LOL, just read the post and realised why you moved it. Sorry I can't move it back. Stick the thread link in your sig etc.

I make music as Forsaken, you can DL all my unreleased (and a couple released) bits here.

Yes. Completely. I hate people who essentially take 'studio mix' as an excuse to lie, and just for this one little paragraph, youve got my sincere respect.DJ Turtle wrote: Oh, and one last thing, I am not sure if this is the right way to do things, but I prefer to record myself in one take, I don't re-record all the time to make it perfect. Unfortunately. I cant give any real feedback. Filth = not my thing. How much criticism can you really need though? Its just beatmatching same-ish bpm tunes, dubsteps a pretty easy genre...
Okay, dubstep a pretty easy genre, unless your spinning petes one tune.

First of all thank you, I keep hearing people tell me that uploading absolutely flawless mixes is what i should do, but that is just lying i think haha!Aquathesis wrote:Yes. Completely. When I write filth, its not no brostep stuff, take a look at the tracklisting and see what you think!
As for criticism, i'm looking for maybe certain eq techniques people may use or any advice on whether I should only mix tunes i'm going to blend, or whether dropping them in on the first drop works, anything along these sort of lines.
Also if the heavier side of dubstep is not your thing, I will be recording a more tame one (DJ G, Matt-U, Synkro etc.) soon too. Maybe I could let you know?
