NEW TUNE - "What's That?" - KOTCHINYARD

Post by kotchinyard » Thu Apr 12, 2007 9:40 pm

Tune i've been sitting on for a little while, that has a little bit of a techno-ish vibe to it later on.
There are minor technical things that I want to clear up with it but i'm putting it up to test the waters and see if anyone vibes it.

So have a little download and tell me what you reckon. Even if you think that it's complete & utter gash.

YO MAN, this tune is sooooooooooo shit. I can't believe that you had the cheek to post up a tune that would offend so many peoples ears.

Here's some constructive criticism for you...............................

(Giving negative feedback to my own tune .A new internet low is reached)

Nah, it's an AAC file. Not everybody is skilled enough to be able to play them...

I can, though...

:)

Super minimal. Very dry sounding. Hmm. Could do with some verb and effects, man! Give it some space. Do some panning, everything is right down the middle.

The snare is a little 'on the top' of everything, rather than 'inside' the track The little arpeggio line is a bit repetitive and could be changed up or something.

That's all from me.

Safe for the words mate, see what your saying now that I listen back to it.
I made it while I only had one of my speakers working (and a dodgy speaker at that!) Will take into account for sure, now the system's crisped up.
Least I know about the MP3 AAC business now.

Nah worries. Just MP3 it and re-up it...

I just listened again. My head was bobbing to it, so you're on the right track...

:)

You use Logic, right? Fire up a spring verb in Space designer and pop it on a bus and send some elements to it. Seeing as you mixed this whole thing pretty much dry and *almost* got it, you're onto a good start.

I'm mixing things dry and trying to get the mix to sit using nothing but compression and EQ these days. Adding effects later (sparingly) will just be some icing on the cake...

:D:

Also, try sticking a sample delay plugin onto some percussive elements (Not the bass, never the bass!) and shift one channel up or down a few milliseconds. You get a slight 'spread' between the speakers and the sound is thinned out and somewhat wider.
