I don't like what he's released over the last year and that's my right as a listener. And I can voice that however I like. I've noticed that people over here are incredibly personally offended by statements criticising so-called 'established' producers. I don't know why.
All releases by 'recognised' producers can't be good. You should be able to voice some criticism. It's not a personal attack at you people for listening to it. You can enjoy all releases with or without questioning them, just don't expect everyone else to do so. And especially don't act like you've been personally kicked in the balls. It doesn't come over as particularly adult.

DSF has its negatives, but the positive far outweighs that.

as far as i'm aware, flying lotus has never been a member of the forum and has little interest in early dubstep. plenty of people know very well that this forum has done a lot for the careers of many many great artists. to say otherwise is just, well, wrong. obviously there's a lot of stupid stuff on here now but it still serves a useful purpose. music in California works in a totally different way to britain.

he's a great producer whether people appreciate his music or not. he's one of the best in the world.

however, i find him overly dismissive in interviews and in person. its a shame that he talks to ikonika like she doesn't know what she's talking about. she obviously does. flylo is a fantastic musician, but he'd do well to show a little more respect for other scenes.

I don't think I'll do any more interviews for a while because I find people tend to perceive artists in such a mythical way. We are people, so please do not hang on everything we say. Interviews for me are actually very nerve-racking, because I don't like talking about my music or pretending to be an ambassador for whatever people are labelling me at the time. I understand they are permanent and I am very slowly understanding how press works.

I do apologise for offending anyone, hate and arrogance is really not in my nature.

I will always love this forum.

But, having generally avoided this kind of conversation - I've always found DSF to be a friendly place, not to mention an invaluable resource.

i've always thought my opinion is valuable, you'd do well to learn some respect too internet big man. i highly doubt you would say these things to my face. so think before you sound stupid. on the occasions that i've spoken to flying lotus in person i've found him quickly dismissive of major trends in UK urban music, to quote the man - "yeah, everyone seems to be jumping on the house bandwagon now, what is that, like the new cool sound over here?" if that isn't relevent to this topic then i must be mistaken.

i do agree with the second bit though. he sounds well stoned in that interview.the reality is, he didn't grow up with UK urban music so probably takes it a couple of levels less seriously than people who did. just like he'd probably say that my appreciation of LA hiphop is way off cos its not what i've always been listening to.
