Logic Pro Hyper Editor

Post by Trebek » Tue Feb 08, 2011 12:20 am

So I recently started messing around with hyper editor to start programming drums...Seems much easier to get the drums sounding the way I like using hyper editor instead of ultrabeat. But my question is, is there an easier way to create your own drum kit within hyper editor?

The way I'm doing it is: load up EXS24 and load up multiple samples of everything I wanna use, save the kit. Go into hyper editor click on make new GM drum map (believe its called that) then I gotta go through all the samples by hitting keys on my keyboard, figure out which note that specific sound is on, then in hyper editor scroll through the list of notes and set it up from there. i.e. The kick is on C, so I scroll through the whole list of notes in hyper editor find C and so forth, then I have to rename each track in hyper editor to what sound it is.

There's gotta be an easier way to do this I hope or is there a way to make it a little bit speedier?

Also I was reading somewhere about to import a previous drum map into a new project you just open your new project and goto load project setting and find the drum map in the other project...But even when I try that Logic won't let me import it, its grayed out, not letting me select it.

Thanks in advance! :t:

To load the hyper editor set into another project?

I do save the current project, open another and goto import project settings, back to old project and look for it and it won't let me re-import into the new session.

Personally I like doing drum beats purely in audio, so I bounce different versions of the same drum hits at different dB levels and with different EQ settings.

I've never messed with it, I'd like to hear more about it though :W:

I usually stick to what I know and am comfortable with in Logic, it'd be nice to branch out a little but at the same time I like the way I do things.

hyper editor is just a shortcut to writing midi info thatll reflect on ur piano roll window...

things are broken down in steps and u have a ''fader like'' vertical lane per step... there is a drum mode... i use it with battery and it works

Meh, i just use the piano roll/editor. saves a lot of time tinkering around. i also have my right mouse button set to velocity, so i can quickly make vol changes etc quickly.
