Favourite Album Intros

Post by Plasmic aka Hanlo » Tue Feb 08, 2011 8:09 pm

3 choices & a reason why (if you want):

1st track off the Downward Spiral, sets the tone for the album, raw n aggressive with a brooding breakdown in the middle!

Speaks for itself:

First track off Kid A, insane, youd wonder how the album could get better after a song like this!

Boris - Pink
Raa into shoegaze, probably my fave Boris track. Such a long intro too.

Burial - South London Boroughs
I know it's an EP rather than an album, but nothing I've heard in music can even come close to those distant horns at the start.

Four Tet - Angel Echoes
Good build up, sets the tone for the album perfectly. Also, this album has one of the best closing tracks "She Just Likes To Fight".

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Everytime I listen to this album the opening blows me away.

GZA - Liquid Swords
When I was little my father was famous...

Fugazi - Repeater
The first Fugazi tune I heard and still my favourite.

The Velvet Underground & Nico - The Velvet Underground & Nico
Bliss.

Neil Young - Harvest
I don't need to say anything.

Elliott Smith - Roman Candle
Such a raw piece of music.

'Crown Of Horns' by Cryptopsy on 'None So Vile'. The sample is crazy.

First thing that came to mind. It sets the scene for the album straight off.

Also lol'd at the first comment on the youtube page:
The worst dubstep album ever.

he uses that trailer guy and makes em cinematic
even his new free mix on soundcloud has it

hands down one of the best songs to kick off an album.... just pure energy

This tune, thought not hype, sets the mood for the entire album.

absolute best... remember being a kid going to blockbuster music and screening this cd. heard about 20 seconds of the first tune and was instantly hooked. First tune screamed everything as a youth I wanted to hear. Electronic music, angst, rawr
