If you find one extra syllable too much to manage you shouldn't be let out of the house alone.

This is happening more and more on my social network feeds.

I don't know why it annoys me so much...but it does. :|

Glad I am not the only one!

Funny thing is when someone calls it dub, you can guarantee the dubstep they are talking about is as far removed from dub music as possible!
If you were to ask for "SUM DUB" and be referring to RSD, the war series etc you could be forgiven, but they always actually referring to robot orgy shit

I've started to avoid even calling it dubstep lately. Just bass.

It's like when ppl call 'Electro House' 'Electro'. Technically incorrect but who gives a crap?

i dont get annoyed anymore but just laugh at people

im glad theyre here to amuse me

its so true though its always robot noise they refer to as dub

lee perry is swept aside just...like..that

once i was playing forward youth and someone asked 'are you going to play any dub?'

I excitedly thought at first they meant as i was playing dub tinged dubstep i might play the real thing but he said..like that woo boost tune

and i think were seeing 2 forces in general here from the modern worlds.....theres people that believe things should be refered to correctly and the younguns that have been brought up to believe all opinions are equal regardless of truth or education...it is whatever they call it and anyone says different its an opinion rather than correction

well stated
n yes, it is shitty for people to blatantly disregard history and lineage like that
Which is far more central to the issue regarding dub(step) than with "electro", "house" et al. (imo)

Dub is more important as a standalone entity historically than those other genres

Imo some dubstep is straight dub.. Solid subbass with drums and maybe a bit of atmosphere, the only difference is tempo and "sound"

I can't say I agree. Dub is a genre and Dubstep is also a genre, so calling dubstep dub, is more like
calling Electro House Norwegian death metal.

I was thinking, it's like if a new kind of Trance music came out, and people started calling it Hip Hop.. how absurd that would be.. but then I remembered that timbaland actually did that.

anyway i think it matters, and yeh im afraid it does bother me when people say dub - as i love real dub, immeasurably more so than the shit they're referring to.

too be honest its not as weird a concept as alot of people are making out too be.

Alot of my friends are into metalcore, and a shit load of other obscure genre's i dont really know aobut - but whenever I make the mistake as saying "oh yeh that metal track" or "oh yeh that _______" track they always correct me.

Yeh i feel a bit of a tit 'cuz my own horizons are narrow, but I love to learn things proper so it doesnt bothing me in the long run, and im open to new things.

plus i fucking love dub but really dislike alot of dubstep right now.
