keeping it real..!

Post by dubstep_scum » Thu Feb 17, 2011 11:32 pm

so, I was just lurking some of the forums here the other day and ended up reading some topic about dubstep going mainstream (which concerns me a lot, since I don't want to see the genre being spammed by the pop culture).

http://www.juno.co.uk/products/399193-01.htm - brought tears to my eyes

it is all a bunch of pop tunes with some heavy bass and all the sudden it's dubstep / gryme. The idea of female vocals over a dubstep track has been totally ruined by all these shitty artists like Rusko and Caspa who will make a remix of just about anything - sorry to see distance and joy orbison there :(

same goes to Chase & Stasus. Against All Odds ft. Kano / Saxon was of the hook, but since they started to work on Rihannas label, they have been dead to me. such a shame.

Compared to many of you i'm probably fairly since i've only been into dubstep for about 1.5 years, but nonetheless kept an honor in keeping it real.. but as time has went by I find it harder and harder to find the good, uncompromised dubstep and especially new productions.

all in all i'm posting this for the sake of real dubsteps survival (and my own playlist ;) )
if you drop some great tunes, artists, EP's, whatever it would be greatly appreciated :) be happy to discuss each others posts and ideas of what is real dubstep.
Vocal and instrumental. Remixes and original productions. everything is appreciated.

tl:dr post and discuss dubstep you consider "real"
and please.. NO Caspa, Rusko, Bogore, Jakwob or any other of that pop shit. this is strictly for songs that will never hit the charts or sell their soul to pop.

I'll start:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZjbCkRJq44 - Plastician - Japan
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVpjPuzlvus - Digital Mystikz - Anti-War Dub
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4O2G9hkSmU - Damian Marley - It Was Written (Chasing Shadows Remix)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbBGNyzkrA8 - 16BIT - JUMP

feel free to discuss the songs i've posted.

so it seems like everyone is just content with the way dubstep is going?

this is just another natural step in the genre due to it's own dynamic nature?

Less time moaning, more time keeping up with the music and you will find that the type of dubstep (I assume) you are looking for is alive and well. I point you in the direction of the DJ Youngsta thread, the Hedmuk blog and the Boiler Room just for starters.
