Ableton

Post by MKRUGGER » Fri Feb 18, 2011 1:15 am

Well.. I'm basically happy with FL Studio at the moment, but something in me wants to try Ableton.. I've used it in the past, and have it in my computer, I just never got hooked on it..

What would be some of the benefits to using it? Over FL.. Besides Live DJing (Which I probably wouldn't be using any time soon) .. ?

I see a lot of people use it, and make some pretty nice stuff with it, so I want to see what all the fuss is about.

I know anything one DAW can do, can be done in another DAW, vice versa.. And it depends on your tastes, and so on..

But I just want to try something new, besides Cubase (Which I find to be.. Not complicated, but complex?) If that makes sense.. Seems like you have to do too much to do simple tasks in Cubase..

So yeah, that's about it ;]

Benefits to using it? Different work flow that may lead to different ideas. That's about it really. Work flow. Some like it, some don't. I think the one thing that I've experienced is that once you learn it, if you have an ANY abstract idea about audio or sound it's not too tough to execute. Very flexible program. Does all the normal stuff relatively well...

Yeah, I've been messing around with it now for about 2 Hours.. Some stuff is A LOT easier to get done in it.. Just simple stuff that you would expect FL to do easily, is done very well in Ableton.. I'm going to just keep messing around with it for the next few days..

I'm sure I'll still use both of them though :D
