It's "real" in the sense that it's on my computer and it sounds decent enough, but it's not "real" in the sense that Benga officially gave it away. Either way, IDGAF. If artists want to dick around, denying responsibility for release schedules and "label matters", then I'll download any version of their shit I can find that'll tie me over til something materializes. If they want my bank, fucking release the damn thing so I can buy it.

I know, I'm not usually like this, but lately there's been all these artists putting off getting their most in-demand tracks released (Datsik, Benga, Redlight, Giant, Spor...), which - I get it, I really do - is their perogative, but again, FANBASE! Gotta keep the fanbase happy and right now we're just being ignored.

Many artists are getting right on it, though, and props to them. They're on twitter, on DSF, sending out emails, etc, etc, giving updates on what's happening when. Then there's artists that are just falling off the map, not publishing release dates, not replying to emails, not doing anything, and all I'm trying to do is kick up some dust and wake them out of their coma.

Take into account that a lot of the very fresh tunes you hear aren't finished , they have to be finished and signed and then the have to fit into an existing release schedule , then you have to allow for artwork , promotion , mastering , checking test presses , pressing , waiting for a release slot with the distributor, and all this takes money which at some point people have and some points people don't.
2/3 of a year(8months?) is a very fast turn around for a release ... faster than 90% of the major labels(emi etc) I challenge anyone who doesn't run a label to get a tune from the day its made to the shops on vinyl in under 5months

p.s I seriously doubt that the people who signed the tunes are sitting behind pcs 'smirking' at impatient dsf users.

It'd be nice if they just dropped a line and told us what the hell's going on, but they don't. One little line and I would happily wait another 6 months for something. Take Spor for example: Twittered his followers a couple months ago, saying there'd be this one particular release on Feb 15th. The day shows up, no release. People start asking him about it on twitter, and his response?

"To angsty twitterers - I don't run Lifted or it's release schedule. Either contact the label or light some incense and have a bath."

Or in other words, "Hey, this shit ain't my problem. So take a chill pill and quit bothering me"
