DMZ SAVED MY BROTHERS LIFE. LITTERALLY!

Post by blackout » Tue Apr 17, 2007 12:53 am

My younger brother had an awful year of it last year. His relationship with his girlfreind of 14 years had been slowly going sour over the last couple of years and he was getting more and more depressed. He had been increasingly turning to drugs more and more in an effort to try to numb his brain from reality. He had always smoked the herb but he had started hammering the e`s, speed, coke and in the end heroin in a bid to escape from the grim reality that his relationship was about to end.

He had always been a hard worker and one weekend returned from work early to find his missus in bed with his best mate! Turns out they had been having an affair for at least 6 months prior to him finding out about it. He completely lost it (as you would) and gave his now ex best mate a hiding and sped off in his car to buy a litre bottle of vodka and 2 packs of co-codamol with the intesion of ending it all. He went to a nearby forest and ate all the pills and drank as much vodka as he could stomach before passing out. Luckily the place he was at was well known to be a place where youngsters would park up and smoke weed and the police turned up and discovered him slumped in the car with the empty tablet packets around him and the vodka next to him. They rushed him to hostpital where they pumped his stomach and gave him drugs to counteract the effect of the paracetomol which may had found its way into his liver.

After a short stay in hostpital they let him out without any real councilling of any kind or psychiatric help which he definately could of done with and as he didnt and couldnt go back home and didnt want to tell any of his family (me included) what had been happening he started to sleep in his car. He was planning his next try at suicide and decided that driving as fast as he could into a wall would be a sure way to do it this time. As he was driving down a motorway looking for a suitible object to drive into he had radio 1 on and Mary Anne Hobbs was on and she palyed Digital Mystikz - Anti War Dub and it had such a profound effect on him that he started having second thoughts about the world being such a bad place. At the end of the tune Mary Anne said that Digital Mystikz were that night playing in club Ifor Bach in Cardiff so instaed of doing himself in he carried on down the motorway to Cardiff and meditated on bass weight instead!!!!

He has since got his head together, got his life back on track and things are looking up.

DIGITAL MYSTIKZ VERY POSSIBLY SAVED HIS LIFE! :z:

Reminds me of a song....."last night a Dj Saved my life"............

Like they say you got to go all the way down before you can bounce back with the right support im sure your brother will get his head together and i bet mary anne will be pleased to hear her selections have inspirational effects.

All the best to him.

i can kinda relate to his position, about 6/7 years ago i was in a bad bad place for various reasons i won't go into..
EZ ran Narrows- Saved Soul on Kiss one time when i was sittin in my room miserable- this was about a year before it came out and people were fighting over getting hold of it lol!
anyway that tune made me sit back, think "what the fuck am i doing" and pull myself back from the brink... and I haven't looked back since..100% positive vibes from then

music can move you in ways words/pleading/reasoning cant..

glad ur bro is doing good now... bring him 5th may for the hallelujah experience lol!

Cheers for the comment guys.

He`s due for his 2nd installment of Dubstep therapy at Exodus DMZ at the West Indian center at Leeds a week on Friday if we can scrape enuff pennies together.

He will be the one knelt in front of the DJ box screaming "Hallejulia" at the Digital Mystikz!!!! :n:

Should point out he hadnt heard of Dubstep before hearing that tune so he was truly instantly converted :P
