Mista Jam - the one holding the flag for Dubstep now.
Was listening to his show on Saturday night. 11pm till 1am.
And he said something which kind of made me stop a little.
His show is now going to be strictly Dubstep from 11pm till 1am.
Interesting...

MistaJam...I sometimes listen but always get the impression he is trying to make grandiose statements of how he is championing this genre. The Story of Dubstep show was decent but his commentary made me cringe a lot, there is no way in hell his shows are going to have nearly the same influence MAH had.

From what I can tell Mistajam plays all kinds of dubstep. On national radio. Ok...I'd rather some of the stuff weren't there...but, If someone tuning in to hear a Doctor P tune, hears a Quest tune for the first time...and loves it, it's been a success, no?
If people can hear all different types they can make their minds up, as opposed to just hearing some wank tune on youtube their mate showed them. Mainstream underground exposure done proper innit.

From Saturday night, gotta be honest a pretty good mix, you have your midrange (Doctor P, Datsik) and you also have Kromestar, V.I.V.E.K., Matt-U, Benton...
Really don't see the problem, tuning into to Radio 1, it's hardly gonna be a Youngsta tracklist!

Never said it was a bad thing. I met him in Maida Vale a few weeks back and we discussed this all and he knows that he will represent it well with the deep and hard stuff. I think it's good and we'll see how it turns out!
As far as the comments on being happy that Dubstep is being played on Radio - I disagree. Dubstep has been getting aired on daytime radio for over a year!

Why's everyone being funny about mista jam? he's not the best radio dj in the world, granted. but everyone was biggin up skream and benga when they got a radio 1 slot and they play all different sorts of stuff (skrillex, funtcase to synkro etc).
kind of double standards
kind of double standards

Re: Mista Jam - the one holding the flag for Dubstep now.
a key sign of how popular dubstep is becoming? Now has a huge slot for dubstep on a saturday night.
He has to represent all the corners of dubstep. Its public radio ffs. The resident dj's on 1xtra have thrown out some quality 'Daily Dose's'. Mensah smashed it and Quest teared it a new one.

Because he's an insufferable bellend.gergbot wrote:Why's everyone being funny about mista jam?
Did anybody hear the Joker guestmix quite a few months back? The moment he shouted "Brok On!" was the moment I realized MistaJam was a class A tool.
To be fair, I thought he would be playing some god awful tunes every show by now. But he's done himself well and maintained a pretty good standard. But as is with everything, i'm pretty sure standards will start to slip and before you know it every show will be filled to the brim with Skrillex, Boregore and Nero remixes.
