I'm not up on how live sounding Ableton and that can be, but ain't it gonna be fairly obvious if it's done on decks or some digital thing. Platter stops, platter touches, pull backs, (in my case dodgy beat matching) and alike?
I know people now days who have no mixing skills (no ear for it) but can put some mp3s on a grid. I wonder how judges will determine if this person can actually play live or if they ever have...
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

Well the quote answered your question.
You can hear if it's been done on vinyl or cdj's as opposed to ableton.
And we can always ask people what they did the mix on, but it should be fairly obvious.

It doesn't really matter though, I've lined up a perfect mix on ableton a number of times and just thrown some fx and slicing over the top and people have loved it. That actually takes more skill and effort because it has to be perfect, I've spent ages (as in, weeks) on getting a perfect mix for nights I'm playing at.
Some people have a problem with that kinda thing but I don't.

However I'm sure people won't be sad enough to lie about how they did their mix, because I would need to know in terms of what equipment to hire in anyways.

Don't sweat it too much serox, its our (minor) headache, not yours.

Can I submit two mixes?

One on vinyl and one on Ableton?

Whichever you would actually use live, submit that.

:D: +1

:crybaby: i did my mix with a mouse and only a mouse because none of the dubs were on vinyl and i havent got time coded schenanigans on the go.

Submitted.

Hope there's a fuck off sound system in there!

Couple side-notes - would probably play some punchier stuff if I was playing out, but that's the gist of it. Bit rushed trying to get 5 tracks into 10 minutes. Also, ignore the scratching - it's shit and I was just having a laugh.

Tracklist:

Image

1. Gumnaam - Meera Stringz
2. Pinch - Chamber Dub
3. Goth-Trad - Sunbeam
4. Tech-Itch - Ba'alzamon
5. Juju - Punks

And DJ Rectangle - Ultimate Battle Weapon for the shitty scratching.

Crossing my digits!
