Any one know of a good midi arpeggiator?!

So, I'm wondering if any one know's of a good midi arpeggiator's?! Cubase sx3 is my daw of choice which does have an ok arpeggiator.
But as with most factory plugins, there's usually something better out there!

There's a shitload out there (Matrix, Arpimedes, ARPG8R) but I've only ever tried Hypercyclic. It's OK. I prefer to sequence most of my arpeggios by hand in a MIDI editor these days.

You can buy an Akai MPK49 and it has a latching arpeggiator function, you can also select the time division too. Its pretty sweet sometimes.

The original version of EnergyXT is nicely usable as a midi arp and general midi mangler (eg you can use midi notes to trigger chors, sequences etc). OTOH it's 59 euros these days for the whole package so if it's just the midi you're after you can probably get cheaper elsewhere.

yeah very rarely use the arps. Use the mpk. Good to record the arped notes, and then have a bit of fuck about.

Depends. There's no set rule - there's some small shortcuts though, like if the arpeggio is just a straight up/down affair you can start by copying the minimal notes containing the repeating intervals and pasting them wherever you like. A lot of this also depends on what you're loading/viewing/editing MIDI with. I use Reaper.

Otherwise, you can modify this approach by googling for MIDI files that demonstrate different kinds of scales and doing the same kind of copy/paste approach - take the minimum scale phrase necessary, copy, paste & transpose... etc etc.

+1 to the DIY arp crew...

mapping arpeggios isn't exactly a simple thing to explain... Arpeggios are essentially the notes of a chord/scale played one after the other, so you need to know;
1. The notes/chords relative to the scale your playing in.
2. The chords themselves.

In order to just know these things, you'd need to have a firm grasp on music theory, and that in itself is nearly an oxi-moron, as music theory is a huge subject, and there are more chords/scales then "how do i make datsik wobble" threads. If you don't know music theory, you can always try winging it, moving each note till it eventually sounds good, or...

Some DAW's come with a "chord selector" type thing built into there piano roll (remembering back to FL), you could use that and just seperate the notes into an arp
Also, remembering back to when I was learning to play guitar I used to use GuitarPro to learn scales and whatnot, I also used it to to learn sweep picking (another type of arp) Occasionally i still find myself going back to it to find scales/arpeggios i've learned/wrote, so that may help you.

Other then that, my only experiences with arps has been with a Basic64, which is alright if thats what your looking for

*One more thing, the Akai MPK Mini Laptop Keyboard has a built in arpeggiator, don't know if its any good or not, but the keyboards only like 100 bones.

Thesys from sugarbytes, I think it's called, or did it get renamed or something? Is somewhat of an arp/midisequencer type daelio worth checking out. Don't know what the street price these days is. Everybody's got a bargain sale going, seems.
