First dubstep tune I've posted on here.

Post by quad control » Sun Apr 15, 2007 5:10 am

Ez,

This is my first post of any song I've made for dubstep. I just put up the first 3 or so minutes of the song in this mp3. Yes yes, tis a remix of a more popular song in the US, but I believe I've caught the essence of the sound, with a dubstep twist. I more or less would just love to get feedback and tips on what I've either done right, or done wrong (either are both as much appreciated).

Simply put, about 7 months ago a friend of mine whom I worked with in dnb got me stuck on dubstep. It's been an obsession ever since.

Since then I've moved to a new location, and luckily others whom are also on the same boat are into this wonderful genre of music.

From me though before criticism or probably criticism for structure. This version of the song is broken down for when I were to mix it into a set, so therefore no rules apply for a "standard". All in all rip into it if need be, because I want to know everything everyone on here has to give. :)

Big ups to all, and big ups to dubstep.

Rich

whoa this is fucking siiiiick! i like the vibes on this one. solid building the entire way thru the tune. i really dig that lead that comes in around 2:25. The structure of it is pretty standard. I think the mixdown is pretty clear even at the 160 rip. i like the hip hop lyrics, almost think they're a tiny bit overused before that drop @ 2:20. I think you could use it a lil more sparingly and still get the same effect with it, but I like the fact that you drop it out completely on that drop at 2:20.

I would really dig a 320 of this. I like the vibes on it, and I think this would be a monster on the dancefloor. Excellent way of incorporating the hip hop hook and vibe and really making this a solid tune.

good on ya w/ the chat earlier bro. listening to it again, it's really a toss up in personal preference. it almost feels like it's overused, but in listening to it again it really is key to the build into that drop @ 2:20. Maybe a spacing it out a lil bit in the first couple bars of the the drop and then increasing it like it's a drum build right into that drop. I fully dig this tune, and it will be getting heavy rotation cuz all the elements are spot the fuck on. the mix is crisp and that bassweight sounds like it'd have people holdin' their bellies to keep their guts in check.

big big big things on this dude. i hope people don't sleep cuz this is really a gem and i'm sure it'll burn a dancefloor down :D:
