progressive metal dubstep?!?!? Djentstep? Sweet!
Re: progressive metal dubstep?!?!? Djentstep? Sweet!
I think this would be such a sick idea if it was executed in a better way. There are some sick elements involved but I swear there's no sub or anything very dubstep-like... & here I was ready to be amazed, disappointing. You lot need to check out man like Scale the Summit, Dysrhythmia, Periphery, Animals as Leaders. They would smash it if they tried prog-infused dubstep. Also, sorry but I think "Djentstep" is a complete & utter par. I vote that we don't start using that term, please.

I can't really find the dubstep, except for some few wobbles. It's metal, mmkay?

Yeah, but even that doesn't necessarily make it dubstep... wobbles are present in more than just dubstep music... I think that's why people make such a big deal over certain producers simply making wobblers with not many actual dubstep elements & calling it dubstep. I do agree with u here tho... this is probably just experimental prog.Icey wrote:I can't really find the dubstep, except for some few wobbles. It's metal, mmkay?
As much as I like Distance... his music doesn't sound that close to what the progressive metal artists who are labeled "Djent" are making. I think this thread is about actual live progressive metal incorporated into dubstep. Distance sounds nothing like that. Well that's my opinion anyways.particle-jim wrote:if you want metal influenced dubstep then listen to distance

lol i saw the facepalms and thought i'd listen for a laugh and the tune actually isn't bad at all, a little overproduced for my liking and not something i'd cop myself but not a bad track.
Re: progressive metal dubstep?!?!? Djentstep? Sweet!
i just hate when people discount rhythm and texture when they talk about "musicality". There are tons of dimensions to music, not just more/less notes. And the harmonies implied in a lot of dubstep tunes are just as loaded as those in some music that's packed with notes. i.e. modal jazz, Indian classical...
its just more of the composition comes from timbre, texture, rhythms, and arrangement.... by both producers and DJs.
