Ambient Drumstep?

Post by Filthzilla » Sun Feb 27, 2011 12:31 pm

Anyone know of any Drumstep tunes that are less 'Brostep' and more of the chilled, deeper stuff?

Just wondering because I think it'd be intresting to see how people control the energy that 170 BPM brings.
Cheers all. ;-)

Drum and Bass isn't, but Drumstep is non-existent so I can make up any tempo I like.

If I sped up a Britney Spears track, It wouldn't be called speedpop, it would still be called pop.

The only HALF TIME DNB track I acctually like is Bonkrooger - Welcome To Jurassic Park.

If Drumstep is non-existent, why do you say 174 BPM? That's a characteristic... for a genre... oh... yeah, 'Drumstep' perhaps?

I think a lot of people have accepted the term 'Drumstep' [Like it or not] as the name generally given to 'HALF TIME DNB'.

Whatever BPM it is...
Whatever it's called...

The timbre of the tracks are often quite obviously 'Filthy/Dirty/Brostep' or 'Ambient/Chill' etc...
And thus far I haven't heard any 'Drumstep'/Half-time D&B tracks that aren't more towards the filthier stuff.

It's really simple what I'm asking, and it's clearly not a 'Sub Genre.'/'What shall we call half time D&B?'/'Is Drumstep a good name?' question.

Here's one I've found which is alright.. I'm sure there's better stuff lurking though.

I think you're talking about half time dnb ;-)

also here's an example of a "full time" dnb tune that contains some of the energy of dnb tempos (a bit at least).

'Drumstep' is a really lame word the bro's applied to a long standing genre of DnB when they filth'd it up... when you said chill drumstep, I lol'd, and thought 'autonomal/minimal dnb???'

@ Wrigzilla : very nice tunes, can you recommend more of them ? Like many of them ? A list would be fine, no need for youtube linkage.

@ Filthzilla : here are a few of my favorites

You need to edit your post, make a proper youtube link using the video button and make a big red square all around to make sure nobody's going to miss this one. Shit is epic!

people got way too uptight about genre names and sub-genres.

99% of you would have known what was meant by the OP, and while theres no harm in 'educating', theres no need for anyone to be arrogant arsewipes and come across all pretentious.

but anyways, Data has got some pretty big stuff going on, from half-time/standard dnb, through to dubstep...its all good

half-time

dnb
