Sending Logic files

Post by Mr Hyde » Tue Mar 01, 2011 8:52 pm

Am trying to email a Logic file to someone for them to muck about with it but even after cutting everything unused off and emptying the bin files etc it is 480Mb and doesnt compress down much when zipped....so no uploading type sending sites accept something that big.

I'm assuming you need to check the boxes to copy all of the EXS, Ultrabeat, Space Designer and External audio files (seeing as I did use all of them)?

Just bounce them all into stems and send em that way....Or even bounce each track down, name it proper and then go from there, instead of trying to send a whole Logic file.

check the audio bin, if you've done a lot of audio editing there'll be loads of little copies and cuts of the same audio file

EDIT: just read ur post, ignore me.

if you and your friend both have legit copies of Logic then you only need to check the boxes for EXS/Space Designer/Ultrabeat/etc if you've used your own patches or impulse responses. That should save some space, especially if you've used a strings or piano patch on the EXS...

also, have you looked in the Project File Backups folder? That can run to a couple of hundred megs sometimes, and you don't really need to be sending those to your mate...

Nice one, yeah I had got rid of the backups but was sending all the EXS type stuff.

In the end I found a site that could send 480mb files, but have copied these comments for next time!
