Native Instruments Maschine?

Does anyone own/ever used a Native Instruments Maschine?

Because...this guy makes it seem pretty fuckin cool.

Yeah I got one. They are similar to MPC's but come preloaded with sounds, a VSTi and apart from the pads are nothing like an MPC.

I put it back in the box when I figured you had to arrange your patterns inside their VSTi and not your DAW. Which is very limiting.

I dont know what GV1 is talking about. Yes, you can arrange it in the VST if you want. You an also arrange it on a MIDI clip, just like on all VST drum machines where each sound starts at C1 and works its way up. Its in the manual, so I dont know what to tell you.

To the OP, its an amazing, errrr... Maschine? I use it for all my drums now. There are a few work arounds that I dont quite understand yet, but I'm sure as I get used to it, it will come together. The flexibility is great. Its built like a tank. It offers features that Live doesn't in their Drum Racks. And its great for DJing with Traktor as well. For someone that likes to have tactile feedback, it is great as a drum programmer without actually getting an 808 or a Tempest or whatever.

Huh? I purchased mine when they came out, and I even asked on the forums. I was told you could only arrange in the VST and not on individual tracks in your DAW. That's why I dropped it.

To make sure we are on the same topic, you load up a sample on pad 1, pad 2 and pad 3 using the Maschine VST and you record them in your midi editor on your DAW? (Piano Roll in my case). That can be done? Last time I hunted for the answer it couldn't. That was when I first got it, and since then I've never used it.

I'm sorry, he uses Fruity Loops, like I do. But he uses Traktor to mix, where as I use Virtual DJ. lol. After reading it again I was thinking the same thing.

Hey dude.... I dont know. But I'll give you my quick workflow for you so you can see for yourself. I kinda figured it out on the fly.

• Make a beat in Maschine
• Use the cross hairs thingy so that you can export to midi.
• Drag it to your maschine channel

From there you can edit the sounds in your midi editor too. I even go as far as routing my audio to different channels so that I can process them separately. Ask if you have any other questions and Ill try to answer as best as I can.

Maschine is great, ive been using it for a year and a half. Now is the time to buy it, in the past it still didnt have many basic features, too many workarounds etc......The new 1.6 beta takes it to the next level.

I use it as Vst in my DAW, no problems, just a really good sketchpad to get your ideas out. Nice for live shows as well. YOu can not get better workflow. If you come from an mpc, its a breeze. Even if you've used vsts like BPM motu, guru, Geist etc etc you will love it. I use it on all my tracks.......and its fun!

ive been eyeing this thing for awhile now, could this be configured in conjunction with FL FPC?

Im not sure about FL but the maschine controller itself can be put into midi mode and used like any controller.

Just to get an idea of the workflow. YOu can sample straight off the internet/itunes into maschine, using soundflower etc, once your recording stops, you can edit and truncate your new sample instantly, the waveform appears instantly on your two lcd screen things. All this without any mouseclicks or looking at your monitor! Its a samplers dream....and the fact you can host vsts inside maschine allows even more creative possibilities.
