Re: PRODUCTION FORUM IS NOT A PLACE FOR FEEDBACK............
i just started to apprechiate the dubs section and then these changes messed around tbh.
long time it really seemd like spam fest but obviously people do check some names tehy know they can rely on.
now it's a huge mess and i'm not sure if i shall post my tracks in there tbh.
not being arrogant, but i think 'beginners' should have a place for their tunes (which imho was the feedback&WIP thread in here) and people who actually have solid tunes, in the dubs section.
of course i know that it hasn't been like that since long - many stupid spam-users with shite 'tracks aka noise post in there - but it still was more or less clear. now it's too much of everything.
searching for good tunes is good - but searching for a needle in the haystack isn't cool.

Re: PRODUCTION FORUM IS NOT A PLACE FOR FEEDBACK............
I was thrilled when you got rid of finished tracks, but the W.I.P.'s? Dubs forum is agreed to be a finsihed tracks zone, and sometimes people wanted specific WIP feedback without having to dive in and put the track in the dubs forum where more people/the general public would come to here it...
I trust you guys decision, but IDK, as someone who was very happy to see finished tracks go, Im very disappointed to see W.i.p.'s go, I feel like youve eliminated our only means of sharing unfinished tracks as producers on this forum whilst avoiding the general populus as a whole.
Edit... oh wow... I just noticed you guys added W.I.P.'s to the dubs forum... that sucks... now its not a convenient way to keep track of peoples finished tunes... i used to spend alot of time in there listening through the threads, even if not giving feedback, because I knew they would all be finished and an accurate gauge of peoples finalized work. You had me excited last week, I thought, finally, everyones finished tracks in one place, and the WIPs in another... now your going to have one massive, messy forum that is dubs...
Killed two systems with one change. Just when dubs was gonna get cool, this is really, really lame, and makes me not wanna participate in dubs forum at all, on top of it.

it's blatantly apparent that people are posting tunes that aren't up to scratch in dubs already so not a lot is going to change by making it an official place to do so
dubs is going to remain a place for feedback but as for WIPs/ideas they may still come back here if you all want it. like i said this is being done just for the sake of change and to piss you off which some of you are acting like - if it's wanted by the majority of you then it can be re-implemented

cheers for that
can't see a use for the link one, but the wait one (assuming you can set it to something very low - 5/10 mins or so), and the forum specific post count requirement might be useful
opinion regarding this
Its up to the users to make the system work... Production folks should get over there and start discussions over one another's tunes, if theres anything to say... positive, negative (hopefully constructive). The reply count over there is so bleak, any amount of actual back and forth discussion should manage to keep the threads alive for a decent amount of time... enough time for more users to listen and weigh in if they see fit, and to get exposed to the better tunes, while lousy ones float downstream
WIP thread contained great things, but that was balanced with an equal amount of
"@xyz1 Nice
@xyz2 nice
@xyz3 nice
Now rate my tune"
(Repeat ad nauseum)
I found it a bit lacking in both the realm of technical advice and sharing your creative vision for another's work... The feedback4feedback rule made it a homework assignment for many users, just going through the motions.
It shouldn't be required or coerced out of someone... it should come from wanting to bump or discuss/learn from other people's work.
Your own bumpage would come if your tunes are quality, end of story
It would prob be more artistic opinions than technical advice over there, but you could always use that feedback to get an idea of what aspects of production need more work on your end.... then come over here and start a thread about it! (As long as it doesn't contain your tune, and you searched first!)
Hopefully a lot of the good gets brought over to Dubs as long as folks participate. imo removing WIP should incent ProFo folks to "reclaim" Dubs.

Re: PRODUCTION FORUM IS NOT A PLACE FOR FEEDBACK............
I'm sad to see the WIP thread go honestly
I used it quite a bit. Any chance of it resurrecting inside the DUBs forum? I think it would help keep the lower quality tracks out until people were actually ready to post a finished track for feedback. Just a thought

Re: PRODUCTION FORUM IS NOT A PLACE FOR FEEDBACK............
IMO it was fine how it was. But if you are gonna keep it this way please bring the WIP thread back to production.
Re: PRODUCTION FORUM IS NOT A PLACE FOR FEEDBACK............
Okay guys call the next 1 and a half > 2 months a test and if you really feel lost without WIP's we'll re-add it.. I would advise to at least give it a try though!
Remember that getting feedback is much like anything in the music world.. you have to scratch someone elses back for them to scratch yours.
Posting in 4-5 threads after your post yours would show that you're giving back to the dubs section and you "should" get some feedback in return!

I'm curious about why anyone thought it was fine the way it was... Dubs is a supersaturated wasteland, Production's WIPs was a closed system of Fb4Fb cycles.
I don't know what would be best for the future, but if i weren't such a slacker and actually made dubs i would be really excited for the change and motivated to try to get Dubs popping in a proper fashion and eliminate the redundancies of WIP thread.

well the link one could be useful for people who just hit and run the boards with "check my tunes"badger wrote:cheers for that

and just a link to a soundcloud or youtube especially the brand new heads who do it on every board say if you set it to something like 20 as just general participation on the boards should get you there in no time
and honestly the WIP thread was mainly the same people partaking in it month after month and with it gone this should encourage you guys to get your own private network of reliable producers together as by now you guys should know who's opinion is worth a damn and who is talking out their ass

added a poll for you with regards to the WIP/ideas thing. please vote and we'll go ahead with whatever you decide
exactly why it was changed. maybe it could have been done better but things are hardly ever done 100% right straight away so if there's any good ideas to make things better we're open to them-[2]DAY_- wrote:I'm curious about why anyone thought it was fine the way it was... Re: PRODUCTION FORUM IS NOT A PLACE FOR FEEDBACK............
Anyone familiar with Newgrounds.com?
I'm not savvy with web design or knowing what is/isn't doable but my only suggestion so far would be to structure Dubs a little more like a tunes portal with ratings determining merit and threads' rankings from top to bottom of the forum. Kind of like Newgrounds was for flash cartoons & games.. top rated tunes could be stickied for a period of time or something... poorly rated tunes would disappear regardless of how active the thread is. Of course theres the issues of spammers, trolls, and beefing...
Either that, or OPs should be locked from their own threads in Dubs. No "thanks", no bumps, period.
Just throw it out there, subject line and link to tune, then see what happens. Tbf, thats all you should need to do... post the tune. If you want to chat back and forth surely u could sort it out on soundcloud or aim, or if its about composition/technique, start a thread in production linking to the Dubs thread.
Would make both places better for the community.
These ideas are a bit more radical and might seem poorly thought out.
But imo radical change is necessary. This community needs to become more democratic about the music repping Dubs, stop letting incidental timing, shameless self-promotion, rinsed brostep sounds and supersaturation destroy that forum's functionality. If it turns into ProFo producers running the show and supporting one another over there, as well as starting way more threads in Production about techniques used in specific, current examples of our own music, so be it. I'd venture to say those would be two positive results.

Make a WIP sub forum in the dubs section? It will mean that people have a place to go to find finished tunes and a seperate place to give obvious feedback.
I really like the use of icons to make it obvious what's what, as the whole 320!!! thing was annoying, so good move on that. However I think the feedback is now fighting against the finished tracks and as it's hard to stay on the front page of the dubs forum anywy this just ups competition...

Re: PRODUCTION FORUM IS NOT A PLACE FOR FEEDBACK *poll insid
honestly if you have an actual WIP you should be able to post a short clip along with specific questions about what you're struggling with in Production.
If you have a half finished tune that's 5:30 long and you want people to tell you they like it (or maybe opinions on the arrangement, etc).... you should just fucking finish the thing and post it as a finished track.
Its kinda ridiculous, this whole WIP business. if there's something people liked/hated, and you're going to make changes, that shit will become a WIP again, until you finish it again, and repost it. A WIP is what you're WORKING on. enough publishing half-assed tunes to get more pats on the back sooner.

if people actually spent half the time the did bitching in this thread over on the dubs forum and helping implement these ideas it wouldn't be such a clusterfuck of a transition
Re: PRODUCTION FORUM IS NOT A PLACE FOR FEEDBACK............
that's essentially the reasoning behind this - replicating what makes production good, making dubs an extension of production, and using it over there-[2]DAY_- wrote:If it turns into ProFo producers running the show and supporting one another over there, as well as starting way more threads in Production about techniques used in specific, current examples of our own music, so be it. that's a good idea actually. don't know why i didn't think of that. i've added a sub-forum option to the poll - don't think you can edit votes once they're cast though unfortunately so apologies to anyone who already has doneantics wrote:Make a WIP sub forum in the dubs section? sub-forums often get ignored though so it all depends on whether people would go out of their way to click on it

it's the way of the internet that people are far happier bitching about things than actually doing anything to improve the situation

Re: PRODUCTION FORUM IS NOT A PLACE FOR FEEDBACK *poll insid
wow honestly this new change sucks balls in my own opinion. Sorry for being blunt (in my opinion) this was a step back.
(my opinion.)
the dub section IS A CLUSTERFUCK
FUCK
like seriously not even going to use it at all because it is inefficient and I feel like it's almost like a complete waste of time.
