A good sniper is actually an asset, they can pick off people trying to defuse / trip the capture points from a safe distance, call in air-strikes, keep a squad pinned down. It's also quite good fun to play but most snipers aren't really team players or are so shit they're no use to the team.

Anyway, am usually to be found playing under the name 'tribal princess' or 'saint firky'.

yea that's another problem is a lot of people playing team based/tactics have the advantage too many impatient people who go off on their own
a good sniper on a ctf game is invaluable
hell remember how fun shit like this used to be

i think half the problem with these quick cash in sequels and competition between franchises is half of the gamedesign is spent on eye candy and physics etc with not enough thought or design put into maps

that and gg seems to have been replaced by omg you cheating homophobe. banned
it seems like people care more about competitive rankings/achievements etc than having fun with fps games anymore

The maps for BC2 when it first came out were pretty rubbish. Now there's quite a few good ones.

I hate myself for buying the Specat Kit

oh yeah dlc is another plague to the industry imo
nickel and diming for shit that should have been included in the first place
expansion packs used to be irritating, but at least they we're fairly priced for what was included

Back in the day games developers used to spend months creating new maps and skins, an entire community grew around it - back when there was still a Barrysworld. Then one day they realised people would pay a few quid for what was probably left out of the games original development.

:z:
half the time once the mapping tools and source is out the userbase and mod community put together better packs and gameplay mechanics than the original devs
hell look at counterstrike

it's just so frustrating people calling for realism this and that, but bitching when people play a game realistically (sniping being a good example)
i miss good old twitch gameplay run and gun shooters like quake when it comes to multiplayer where it was fun, competitive and for the most part a friendly community

:? But everything in TF2 is free. The stuff in the store can all be unlocked in regular gameplay anyway, they only make you pay if you're an impatient dick.

I really hope this game destroys the next CoD game. CoD 4 was probably the best multiplayer FPS of the past five years, but after their little experiment with the PC version of MW2 and ruining Infinity Ward, there's really nothing left for the franchise.

try telling that to the majority of the userbase who spend more time trading/collecting than playing

Me and friends still play BF2. BF2+Realism mod = legendary. Bad Company 2 was lame IMO... Too nerfed. There's probably realism mods by now but I already went back to BF2. 2142 had good ideas with bad execution I think, it died a quick death. Looking forward to BF3 for years, but not getting my hopes up at all.
Gameplay > graphics.

Too many games these days focus too much on eyecandy...

The solution, as always, is a server with good admins and reliably fun player base.
