Will Smoth doing an American Oldboy, blah tbh.

I guess it's not happening after all. I remember there was a pending lawsuit, and I guess the project finally died. It did well in the states so no need for a remake really.

Oldboy is a seriously good film. I watched it again just a couple of weeks ago as my 'similar movie taste' buddy hadn't seen it. I think the way that your kept as much in the dark about what is going on as he is in the story until right at the last minute isn't something you get alot in films. Dramatic irony is a great feature but having to be kept guessing and then having that bombshell revealed at the end is refreshing, personal favorite! Not only that, the reading about the octopus scene and the side scrolling hammer fight. Fucking epic.

guy wakes up with amnesia in a place called the village where he's told is the only place there is. he's certain there's a bigger, better world out there, and he has vague memories of his previous life.

am i the only one who finds blatant gnostic allegory going on in this stuff

it's very intentional. there's obviously way more symbolism than i summed up there. the allegory is very similar to the truman show or dark city. and it's not bad. two episodes in so far.

Tron Legacy- C+ visually decent.... as a 3d artist I'm hyper critical. Lots of seams apparent and lots of pixel issues on some of the effects. That aside it was ok. Was cool to see some aspects upgraded from the original but it was designed too much as a standalone movie than a sequel.

Season of the Witch- D I'm a sucker for anything vaguely religious/crusader oriented. It was a B script with D execution. Can't stand when accents aren't consistant. Two main characters had american accents, the rest of the cast was british, all were crusaders. Only the beginning of the terribleness involved in this movie.
