Re: Skream
Not trying to put skream in a bad light , and i sure them people talkin shit dont know what there talking about , just want to know why its gettin all hyped up
Re: Skream
this. they played what they wanted; wasn't my preference, and probably wasn't that of most, but fuck it, they've been there since the beginning, they can play what they like. bit of a shame, yeah, but there were some quality tunes they dropped.jackbass wrote:no need to make this thread. just exacerbating this whole thing. big up skream and benga.

Was gunna make an @ skream thread but I shall post my 2p here.
Skream, first and foremost you are a true soulja. You have repped the scene from the get go and have forged the sound we know and love today. Most of us in here truly appreciate how valuable artists like you are to the scene we love.
I know I wasn't there but boiler room provided us with an oportunity to witness the event to some extent, and, for those of us who would have loved to have been there, gave us a taste of the action. Watching a rave over an internet stream is definately not the same thing as being there and I am sure we will never understand the vibe you were working with last night.
The thing is, we shouldn't be dismissed as internet haters on a mission to upset people like your self. We buy your music, we pay to see you perform and we are entitled to express our opinions.
I don't have a big problem with progression and think the scene needs it to cary on thriving. What I am terrified of is that dubstep will go the same way as garage did back when. It became oversaturated with throw away pop tunes and the genre suffocated and unfortunately lost some of the credibility it rightfully deserved.
I adore bass music, regardless of genre but I feel that a lot of this hyped mid range music is becoming over exposed. Too many people are jumping on it and it is leading to throwaway sounds such as that talking bass noise or, 'yoy' bass.
I think the key idea behind DMZ is a chance for loads of like minded individuals to get together and really experience the true beauty that the underground, sub heavy, side of the genre provides. I don't think it is the kind of place for these midrange throwaway tunes. This is merely my opinion and, of course it doesn't make me right but I think to dismiss it as hatred is as bad as insinuating hate in the first place.
You need to take on board what everyone is saying about last night. A lot of the people who are making noises about it are people that contribute to your livelyhood by buying your music and going to your gigs.
Really wanna emphasise how much I appreciate artists like you but last night disapointed me a little. It isn't that the tunes were crap it's more that the selection didn't meet what I expected a skream set to meet. I have seen you play out loads and have really enjoyed every one of your sets so I feel I am entitled to feel a litle disapointed.
Low the hate but, at the same time, take on board all the criticism. It is what shapes us as listners, artists, and bass weight lovers. It helps us to gauge how we are perceived by others and I think it is important (especially if you are selling a product) to understand that.
Big ups Skream I don't hate you. You are one of the reasons I love this music so much. If it wasn't for you the scene would be no where near what it is today. Keep doing what you do bruv and keep making incredible music.

Re: Skream
This is the set skrenga played. There are some big tunes on it, but it's still a little disappointing.
Soundcloud
The negative twitter reactions from djs defending this set is just silly. Of course we have every right to critique music on a forum designed for music discussion.
Obviously they can take whatever artistic direction they want, but that doesnt mean that I'll follow them blindly wherever they head. Skream can do his thing, and I can do mine.

Re: Skream
i take it this is related to last night at DMZ.
First and foremost there is not one dubstep fan out there that does not have the upmost respect for Skream. After all he is the 'Dubstep King' as one of his tune quite rightly says.
But last night he got it wrong from the fans perspective. DMZ is a big night but not only was it DMZ but the Birthday bash. People like myself pilgrimaged to Brixton last night to hear DUBSTEP.
Yes the genre has been subdivided up over the past year or so but last night was the place where i'd say about 90% came to hear the originals. No high pitched screeches just 'Sub base at 140bmp'. People found it
to be hearing Doctor P and Funtcase at the biggest dubstep night of the year. All you had to do is look at the twats gurning back out with their tops off making pits to realise that was not the crowd to be attracting last night. Those people only seemed to appear when Skream and Benga played.. The majority of people came for the music and their music has nothing to do with these new sub genres like Brostep.
I think people would of hugely apprectiated an old school set last night with some of his original bangers that got us dubsteppas heads turning and thinking
"What have I just witnessed?"
I heard plenty of Skream tracks throughout the night ranging from his Cassius remix to Request Line. The crowd said it all.. Request Line got dropped at 5am and it went fucking off as if the thing had just started. Thats what people wanted last night.
***** Shit that Raw Dogz refix is fucking ridiculous on that mix. Glad i wasnt tripping last night and that is actually as good as i remembered it! *******

The way I see it, it sounds like those who had an issue with the set weren't even there...

Re: Skream
For what it's worth, I didn't enjoy it and there were a lot of wincing glances between people around the dancefloor. It did get a very lukewarm reaction by and large behind the front rows of topless skinheads.ashley wrote:The way I see it, it sounds like those who had an issue with the set weren't even there...
Re: Skream
Skream's a don, everyone knows that. But come on, what did he expect? That everyone on here was gonna be over the moon about him dropping Doctor P and Datsik?! Did he not envisage this reaction? That sort of sound draws no-end of hate, particularly from this forum whose user base mainly consists of 'deeper heads.' It's no secret that DSF doesn't like brostep.
DJs reserve the right to play whatever they want, so don't moan if people don't like what you play.

Re: Skream
Stop liking what I don't like etc.
Re: Skream
Raw Dogz VIP.

Re: Skream
DJ plays some tracks that not everyone likes. Some people tell other people that they liked some of the tracks they played but not others on a platform designed for talking about stuff like this. Mongs lose their shit.
Re: Skream
If I'm not mistaking, they dropped Basscannon @ DMZ 6
(I wasn't there)
Ok, it had to sound amazing wiv those subs,
but seriously,
basscannon at a dmz party?
(I still like them, btw)

lol i just listened through, it isn't that bad at all, some disgusting tunes on that
care
Re: Skream

can't say i enjoy that sound much but how many nights have you been to where you've loved every tune? maybe back in the day you could have said that at dmz but times change and music changes with it. if there was only one room at dmz and you had to sit through something you hated then maybe i could understand all the arguing but if it was that bad in room 1 then just go to room 2 for something you'd enjoy more
