Somebody sell me on Ableton

Post by Eradicouture » Tue Mar 08, 2011 12:32 am

I bought a copy of Cubase a couple years back, but now it's been long enough that I'm feeling willing to drop some dough on something know and everywhere I go people are talking about Ableton.

So give me the low down, is it worth it? Has anyone used both and can speak to why they might prefer Ableton?

that's one thing that's been a concern of mine is that I've yet to play live with my current set up and Cubase can be a bit of a system hog. I don't have a ton of problems, but even the tiniest bit of latency could be a huge problem in a live setting. What I was looking at was Live 8 but after reading your post continuing to use Cubase for my production and just using LE for live mixing might be a really good. I'll have to look into it some more.

yeah, le's pretty sweet. limited, but geared towards live sets. it only allows 8 channels, i think, but that's how many my nanokontrol has anyway, so it's been working out great.
