Was just trying to go to sleep, and felt a sensation of being lifted from the bed by something, about a foot or two above it and a seriously macabre feeling about my surroundings like there was some horrid evil force controlling me it was so fucked up. Was too petrified to try and sleep again too.

Apparently it happens when the bits of your brain that control movement go to sleep before the bits that control though do. Something along those lines anyway.
yeah, i've had sleep paralysis quite a number of times now.

I only have sleep paralysis if i sleep on my back. And like you've said, it happens after an hour of light sleeping or during that falling asleep stage. There's also this deep sound during mine, like a subwoofer stuck at 50hz, combined with light chatter, a mixture of conversations in the background. Then eventually it'll quite down but i'll still be stuck there looking at ceiling...this is when the weird shit starts to happen.

Last month while i was laying there in this state, i felt something slowly pulling at my leg. I didn't physically feel hands around my leg or anything gripping it, but my leg was just being pulled by some force. When it stopped i fell back asleep and when i woke up my leg was hanging out of the bed. I've also been in sleep paralysis whilst i've heard stuff enter my room and look around, hearing it's footsteps against the wooden floorboards. One time i heard a dog enter the house, barking like crazy and rush into my room and start pulling my hand out of bed.

BUT the worst time i've had sleep paralysis was when i was in that state, stuck on my back staring at ceiling. I then feel the worst feeling in the world like i want to get the fuck out of my room. This weird deep sound starts to come in, kind of like white noise mixed with a sine wave at a low octave. And then out of fucking no where something jumps on top of me and puts it's arms around me, like it was hugging me, but not in a friendly way. So i'm trying to shake like crazy and i could just feel this heavy body resting on top of me, not knowing what it was doing. After about 20 seconds i start to feel it slowly come off and the background noise starts to fade out. I then get this sort of returning-to-body feeling, like i'm returning to my body in bed, it's weird, like a mix between falling and fainting...

but yeah apparently it's mostly due to sleep deprivation and stress. I myself think my room is fucking haunted. LOL

^^^^ I got sleep paralysis like that last one once too. Had a feeling of dread then it felt like something got on top of me and was crushing me and then I started feeling like someone was strangling me. I couldn't breathe or move at all.

Got a few stories from the same area

Me and a few friends used to go fishing in the summer at like 3 or 4 oclock in the morning and it would be light out there and we saw some women all in white walking past some bush, as we got furthur abit we spotted her again from a distance.

Another one,
walking up a long dark secluded road with all trees covering it, as you come out theres a road that goes across and me and my mate saw something float across the top of the road like the speed of an elevator, we run after it haha and looked down the road and there was nothing there.

One of other thing we saw, was an old man dressed in victorian clothes, abit like this
Image

As he walked past i looked at him and he had one of those blank facial expressions, as he walked up the road abit he just disappeared.

edit:
and finding some creepy graveyard thing in the middle of some woods, with an underground passage that had been concreted up, i got a horrible feeling there,i felt like was nearly passing out.

Sort of along the lines of the re-occuring car wreck...

I was going to have dinner with my extended family for a cousins birthday...
It was slightly raining, and the highway went across this little bridge thing...
and coming down the opposite side I saw one of those,
little white crosses with flowers that go up in a place where there has been a fatal accident..

and in the instant that I saw the cross my car spun completely out of control..like a hydroplane
and I ended up crashing into the curb backwards after spinning across a lane..

I was so freakin' scared because I thought I was going to hit someone just beside me
or someone coming up from behind...

The only thing I can deduce from this - is that there was probably an anomalie in the road at that spot..
and those little crosses marking accidents - can actually help warn of dangerous glitches in the road...
I used to think they were wasteful and pointless..but now I respect.

used to get what i can only assume is sleep paralysis after reading the descriptions in this thread.. up until now i hadn't a clue what it was, just thought i was going mad.
i used to get the whispering and chatter along with the white noise, sine wave combo. The worst case of it i had involved actually seeing bugs like spiders and centipedes crawling across my ceiling.

^^ Why you think that?

Although every time I get too drunk to remember much I wake up to find my clothes are all over the room for no reason (and it's a big room)

i used to get sleep paralysis a lot... turned out I had cataplexy which is related to narcolepsy which i was also diagnosed with.

the complete loss of all muscle tone while sleeping would cause me to occasionally have the sensation that I wasnt breathing. Would open my eyes and somehow figure out what was going on and do the "move your legs move your legs" thing and then snap out of it.

I was put on Xyrem (GHB) 6 years ago along with aderall and havent had any sleep paralysis at all and only a few cataplexy attacks.

Shits mega scary.

I saw a severed head in a pile of washing in my house.

We have a wash pile in the corner of the stairs at my house. One night, I was walking up the stairs to the bathroom at sometime in the early hours, I glanced at the pile of washing and saw a severed head. Blood all over it.

Absolutely shat myself, shouted out and nearly fell backwards down the stairs.

Of course, there was nothing there.

There's a terrifying story involving a friend of the family that gets rolled out every now and then in our household.

He was driving home on the motorway after a business conference one night. He picked up a hitchhiker. The guy seemed pleasant and they chatted a bit.

Sometime later, the hitchhiker asked if they could pull over at a service station so he could use the rest room. He obliged and waited in the car for him.

He decided to look in the hitchhiker's bag whilst he's in the toilet. He gets out of the car, opens the boot and opens the bag.

Inside are several tools, saws, hammers etc. They're covered in blood.

He panics, promptly removes the bag from his car and floors it.
