So what are a set of 2nd hand 1210's running for now?
i'm looking into buying my first set of 1210's as theyre now "offically" a collectors thing and i want to be able to say i owned/own a pair 20/30/40/x years down the line.
What are they running for around about now? I would hate to get mugged off by people now saying theyre "rare" etc so they bump the price up.
For the sake of this, say they are used, but "as new" with very little scratches to paint work, if any, but the operations and mechanics of the deck are sound.
300 in the ballpark?
For a pair of course. MK2's.

Really? Ive been watching a few on ebay sell over the past few days, I saw a set with ortofon pro s cartirdge + needle go for 350 yesturday, no idea if that was good or bad though.
perhaps i should of jumped on that one hehehe
Re: So what are a set of 1210's running for now?
wow sounds like u shouda jumped on that!
i was talkin about new. but i've looked around for decks quite recently an it seems there arent many used 1210s goin, and when they are its quite a bit.
new though i think the standard cost is sumin like 500 quid for a 1210.
i'll have to chek out the decks on ebay. although im not sure how much i'd trust a second hand set of decks.

Re: So what are a set of 1210's running for now?
oh yeh, new they cost a fortune. im aware of that.
i dont think id ever trust buying a set of 2nd hand decks like numark etc....
technics tho have the rep of being solid, and i know enough people who have bought 2nd hand with no issues.
i was told to look out for things like if they come with dust covers and 45 adaptors... what carts etc - careless users often loose the 45s and break the lids (just what ive been told - obvious that a giant generalization but i can see the logic)

Re: So what are a set of 2nd hand 1210's running for now?
I recently picked up a good condition pair of MK2's (dust covers, boxes + 45 adaptors included) with an A&H Xone:32 for £500. I'm very happy with that price. They were almost fully operational when I got them but I decided to replace a tone arm and both pitch faders to get them back up to scratch.
Don't be scared of buying a cheap pair with a broken tonearm/pitch fader or something - they're really easy to repair!
Anywhere between £0 and £600 is ok for a set of 1210s if you ask me. I'd want a free mixer and needles included for £600 though.

to be fair they are about 14 years old and have lived in several cities and two different countries, and still work perfectly

picked up one 1210 earlier today for £200.
having some problems with the needle skating, and the grounding wire seems to be cut short towards the back, but hoping to find somewhere to fix these issues!

Re: So what are a set of 2nd hand 1210's running for now?
Back in late November, 2010, I picked up two 1200 MK2's, shit mixer (pyramid pmr something) , decent coffin, and two 4-way loudspeakers for $450 USD. Still had the original carts (pickerington). So add another 100$ for 2 shure m44g's + stylus.
That's equivalent to 277.76 British Pound Sterling.
I grabbed the above deal, a fully loaded Ensoniq EPS, and a Casio CZ-101 all for 500$ used since November. About 310 Pounds for all the items above. (Had to break out the soldering iron on the last two)
Moral of the story? Get the bankroll, troll classified ads patiently, and pounce when you see the deal. At least here they come up once every 3-4 months, like clockwork, but if you don't act fast someone else gets it. You're in a position of power if you keep the cash on hand.
Of course, I live in a U.S. Midwest city with staggering unemployement rates. Low demand = low price.

I got the for $400 canadian each. that was before they were officially discontinued though.

Moki: That's kind of expenisve isn't it? You can surely find a cheaper deal on Ebay if you're in North America (which is more of a sellers market). Just checked the completed listings, they go from 230$-$400 each. Did you get some badass carts with them for that price or something?

Re: So what are a set of 2nd hand 1210's running for now?
That's the price I'm seeing in Calgary too. The eBay listings are good prices but shipping charges kill us up here in Canada. Most of the ads I've seen charge at least 80 per deck for shippinggr0nt wrote:Moki: That's kind of expenisve isn't it? hahaha,
last summer my housemate seb got a pair of 1210 mk2's and 250 vinly off ebay (mixture of house / commercial hip hop / some techno and some dnb) all for £300. everything in perfect condition and perfect working order. Dont believe anyone who says you can find them for £300 or less, keep looking on ebay and you WILL find a steal.
peace

300-600 seems to be the average price, if you live in a city you're more than likely going to pay more.. 'least in England ive noticed most of the cheap sales are from people in the middle of no where cause they can't get gigs!

Jus to let people know, I got a set of MINT 1210's today with Staton somthing-or-other carts + needles for £420.
I could of shopped for a better bargain for sure, but all decks sub 400 had cracked lids or lights out etc. I'm a bit lemon i paided perhaps more than i had to, but im stoked because these are literally mint.
And also, im beyond stoked to be joining the 1210 club. Cant wait to ebay these Numarks!

I picked up pair of mint condition 1210s for £320 last year. If you are in the UK, Gumtree is your best friend for second hand audio equipment.
EDIT. Didn't read the last post
Can't beat the first evening on some 1210s

Re: So what are a set of 2nd hand 1210's running for now?
Actually planning on selling mine in a couple of months.
The deal Capture got is something like what i'll be offering :2 x 1210s in perfectly working condition and 2 x Stanton Trackmasters (with 2 spare stylus) for around £450 mark. The only prob is the lids are pretty weathered and no longer got the original boxes.
If anyone reading this is interested PM me
(and it will be the end of an era 2 ship those badboys off
