Oh yeah, i just realized i told everyone to stop discussing other stuff and comment on the artist and i didn't actually say anything about zeds dead.
As for the star wars crap, i dont really like theme dub.
Some one mentioned Zeds Dead - Doin time. I always liked the intro to that but i would let it drop into a different song if i was mixing it.
Im listening to the eyes on fire remix for the first time right now. once again, the intro is pretty f'n solid.
just waiting for the drop.

is it just me or does the main base sounds totally weak?
and the vowel modulation isnt helping his case

it seems like a lot of people are so quick to make these generalizations that if you like/spin/produce some tearout stuff, you're automatically a noob who discovered dubstep 3 months ago through youtube. And comments like "people who like midrange stuff only like it cuz they don't understand bassweight, cuz they are listening on laptop speakers."

I first got into dubstep around 05, and the incredible diversity of sounds has always been one of my favorite things about it - and the fact that the culture is so encouraging of that diversity. I've found so much music that I love across the whole spectrum of the sound, and it just sucks to see that kind of judgmental, snobby elitism becoming more common.

i dont think it should matter when or how you got into it.
but thats probably cause i did discover it through youtube.
it was more like 2 years ago tho.
its not like they have dubstep in arkansas.

oh, I didn't mean to imply that there's anything wrong with discovering dubstep through youtube, or that the opinion of someone who's been listening to it forever is more valid than someone who started listening to it very recently. quite the opposite actually!

I was just using myself as an example of someone who has been into the sound for a long time, has massive respect and appreciation for the original vibes, but also appreciates a lot of tearout stuff.

Nicely put. I think to often music gets judged by the labels that are pinned on to it rather then a case by case standpoint.

Bang on point n I guess a reason why I personally get offended by some comments! I followed UKG and when that broke it moved to grime n Dubstep, i went to every DMZ up until the 4th birthday, I LOVE MA DEEP, HEAVY ASS BASS through n though! I have always supported that style even though its not what I play as Afterdark/Itchy Robot but that doesnt mean that person cant still love the deeper stuff, it just doesnt fit in my business model! Saying that I've been known to drop some on the show, some tunes you just have to drop... Pinch - The Boxer for example!

It just gets to me that some people do exactly what you say "You make that brostep shit therefore your a fool who knows nothing" LOL Thing that makes me laugh even more tho... I do make deeper music, have done for some time, its been supported by a fair few DJ's n I'm sure seeing as its getting played on 1xtra that some of the very people that mock the type of music I make have prob heard the deep tracks I've done and liked them, just dont know its made by a tearout producer lol

I'm 99% sure if they knew my deeper stuff was by me it wouldnt even get a listen... Now thats sad!

also, for the record, IN MY OPINION. omar lynx's rhymes are fucking lame. and there's no chord progression in the bassline. its like 2 notes repeated. it just growls around a breakbeat loop.

I don't think anyone thinks there's a conspiracy... Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and people don't need to justify their opinions. I think it's more of a reaction to the general tone of how people express their opinions, and the generalization and judgments that come along with it (implied or stated outright), i.e. that anyone who likes tearout stuff is a noob, and doesn't understand "real" dubstep. There was a thread a while back about "guilty pleasures" where people admitted to liking certain tearout/poppy tracks:

and I see it all the time around here, people admitting to liking some Circus or Rottun tune, like it's something to be ashamed of... so it's kinda natural to assume that some people bash anything that gets labeled brostep, just cuz they want to be respected on DSF. There are opinions n lynch mobs bro n it seems with any post regarding the dreaded tearout or for instance Skrillex the mob jumps pon that post and tears anyone to shreds! I dont think there is a conspiracy at all tacospheros, I just find it very embarrassing as a member of this forum to see new people come on here, express their musical opinions only to be shot at by snobs... If you dont like it dont comment on it lol! I agree with Omega 100%, there are DEFFO cats on here who follow the herd and do what seems cool, shot down anyone who expresses an opinion which does not conform to what the deep heads like! If you cant admit that then you are sadly in denial as its right in your face everyday!

when you've been into this shit as long as some people have, i can understand not having the patience to write out thoughtful reviews of Skrillex tunes. especially whenever someone tries to explain something like that, you get people saying "its all subjective, anyway. " so what's the point?

quick back story. Im a junglist. have been for over ten years. During the last decade, i watched the jungle scene become watered down and repetitive and obnoxious, not a creative scene at all. people just going through the motions. and the tune quality suffered. i feel like jungle is a shell of its former self. that's why so many people jumped ship and started making dubstep ! but yeah , im seeing that happening all over again with dubstep

Dude I've been mixing music since 1993, from Oldskool to Ragga Jungle to UKG which turned into Dubstep... That doesnt mean anytime I see a post about music I dont like I have to go n shout my opinions at anyone who dares to like something I dont!

Its so sad that some of the new members who have found a new music that they are excited about, took the time to find the site, put a post up only to be shot down, more than likely never to come back! On the thread about DSF getting twitter hate, someone commented that its a dark place full of teenagers etc, its not far from the truth now is it and your negative comments are directly related to that quote! You lot should be proud!
