Re: Torq 2.0
ok, I used the 2.0 upgrade to practice a little last friday...
it's stable and it seems to track a little better than the old version

Re: Torq 2.0
There is a difference in sound quality. Probably the most important difference. The components in the connectiv are cheap no matter how you want to slice it. I may try some other software with it but I still won't have any confidence in bringing it out of the house because it never really fucked up for me at the house. How can I be reassured?Capture pt wrote:I have the connectiv and use it with image lines Deckadance, and it works PERFECTLY.
ive had it maybe two years now, never ever crashed, frozen, glitched, quit expectedly, NOTHING.
its been brilliant, from my point of view i can see no way serato can be better than my setup - on par, maybe, but butter - theres nothing else left to do to make somthing better!

Re: Torq 2.0
yeh tbh id never taken quality of the componants effecting sound into consideration before.... tho ive never noticed anything.
when im home next ill run some tests of a wav vs wav through the connectiv maybe.

Re: Torq 2.0
ok so....
I am satisfied with my $50 upgrade purchase
there was a small issue with my unit not being serialized but much to my surprise, Avid / M-Audio, whoever had me a serial number in about 30 minutes of me sending the email.

So will you be using Torq at Wakarusa then? Or just vinyls?FSTZ wrote:good to knowCapture pt wrote:I have the connectiv and use it with image lines Deckadance, and it works PERFECTLY.

Deckadance is not bad! I just set it up and everything is working like woah. I love the browser down the right side. Big issue with Torq is not fitting enough on the screen. Like it was designed before everyone had widescreens and just stuck with it. Not sure this will ultimately fix my problems but I like it better than torq already.

Re: Torq 2.0
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I'm just interested in how you're finding Torq 2's stability now. I'm looking at moving into a digital vinyl setup and I'm debating a Korg Zero8 mixer and grabbing the Torq 2 update vs getting Traktor Scratch Pro 2 and a cheap mixer. I think the cheaper option would be Torq 2, but if it's as unstable as the first version I might pass.

Not sure about torq, but never, EVER cheap out on a mixer. You'll regret it in the long run. And I have a feeling TSP2 may be a little glitchy until the first update or two, plus its harder on your CPU than torq.bigfootspartan wrote:Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I'm just interested in how you're finding Torq 2's stability now. Re: Torq 2.0
Hmm that's good to know. My MacBook is getting quite old, but I don't really have the cash-flow to update it, low CPU usage is good! What does a decent mixer run at used? If I can grab one for less than 250 then it'd be cheaper to go the Traktor way, at over 250 Torq would be the cheaper route...Prolific___ wrote:Not sure about torq, but never, EVER cheap out on a mixer. Re: Torq 2.0
Here's a nice little review of the mixer I have, I got it new for around $300 6 months ago. http://www.skratchworx.com/news3/comments.php?id=1096 Not really sure what your stayle of djing is, but for me, i'm cool with 2 channels, simple layout, and minimal effects. It's good for just mashing tunes back and forth, and nothing else really. If I were you, I'd just try to stay away from brands like numark, stanton, gemini, behringer, and the <300 Vestax models. If you can find a used pioneer, allen & heath, ecler, or rane at a reasonable price and in reasonable shape, then jump on it. But be careful when buying used dj equipment, you never know how they might have been treated by the previous owner.bigfootspartan wrote:Hmm that's good to know. Re: Torq 2.0
this thread isn't that old...
I've still only clocked about 5 hours on torq 2.0 and I have yet to encounter an issue
funny thing is, my friend who was talking trash on torq and saying all he needed was serato, bought serato and he had the same problems he did with torq
the problem is clearly his laptop

Re: Torq 2.0
Hmm that's good to know, i have a feeling that a few people are in that boat, thinking it's the software when it's probably a hardware issue. I think I'm sold on Torq, the demo is going really well so far, and an upgrade of $50 is really decent. Just one more question about how time codes work. Does the software decode the vinyl, or does the hardware interface (audio 10 for traktor and connectiv for Torq) decode it? I'm just trying to figure out if the Korg (traktor certified) will suffice or if I'll get stuck into having to buy a connectiv as well.FSTZ wrote:this thread isn't that old...

Re: Torq 2.0
So I was at my local (philly) sam ash today. I saw that they had torq connectiv for $120, so I decided to go ahead and buy it. Turns out it was $120 for a reason, it was open box, one of the control vinyl's has a nice scratch in it, and the software is missing. I called them up and they said they would order me in a new one and replace it for free.
So a $180 discount isn't so bad I guess for having to go out of my way again to pick it up.
But other than that, everything is working fine. I'm running it through the demo of 2.0 right now, so I can't say anything from a software standpoint yet, but the hardware seems to run smooth.

Re: Torq 2.0
I'm in that boat but I have used several laptops with Torq and have the exact same problem. There is a decent sized thread on there about the exact thing I am talking about http://www.torq-dj.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11164 There are threads on the same things scattered throughout the site. It's almost a meme on there it comes up so often. There is an issue with the connectiv itself not the software. It's also why I suspect they lifted the dongle like restrictions on the software. They know about it and the only fix is to create a new box. Allowing users to choose whatever box they want is the short term solution.FSTZ wrote:this thread isn't that old...

Serato is next on the list. Never buying anything m-audio ever again.therook wrote:Traktor or Serato or Ableton?

Re: Torq 2.0
Hey guys,
I thought I'd just join in on this discussion as I have been playing with Torq 2.0 + Xponent since January - when the trial version came out. I've been playing with it in several major clubs now and it's seems to be working very well - stable, good sound quality and personally I just really like the FX, the sampler and the fact you can use VST fx as well - something Serato and Traktor don't support.
I know you guys talk a lot about the problems you've had with Connectiv, but unfortunately I haven't used that before, so can't really judge on that.
If you have any questions about Torq 2.0 - just drop me a line!
