Mary Anne Hobbs, Crissy Criss, Fused Forces, 12th Planet, Pawn, Emu, and Plasticians
rock Southern California producer Kelly Deanʻs tracks for a damn good reason: his work
evidences a devotion to the fulfillment of vision. He reveals the destiny of dubstep
through the oracular Rat Race EP, a collection of ominous future tech cuts designed to
deprogram the mind of its conditioning. 1984 is over! DISCLAIMER: SUB PRESSURE

“Weird heroes and mould-breaking champions exist as living proof to those who need it that the tyranny of ‘the rat race’ is not yet final.”
~ Hunter S. Thompson
Foreboding clouds loom over the riveting tech terrain of Rat Race like an oppressive
state looms over its citizens. Vocal pads, lush soundscapes, and stuttered leads erupt
into a heavy tech groove. Wave after wave of pounding drums, gritty leads, and high-
impact bass eke out a crunchy rhythm to motivate the masses. Dubtek hauls in heavy
loads of atmosphere for the ultra-progressive remix, a masterpiece of cinematic dub.
Like a virulent pathogen, Contagious gets straight into the bloodstream and starts doing
serious damage. This sick puppyʼs lurch/chug ethos will tickle the Crystal Method fanboy
in you. A darkly stoic techno-influenced viral assault on the senses. Relentless!
Kelly Dean and neuro/tech black alchemist Depone set out to irrevocably warp minds in
the high-energy No Turning Back – and succeed. Deeply-textured synthwork, swirling
pad leads, and demented glitch-arp melodies somehow stay afloat over violent crests of
bass. The audience, on the other hand, will be drowning in it. And when itʼs all over and
they finally come up for air, theyʼll never be the same again. Bring indemnity waivers.
The madness continues as the two test the limits of their dark science in Apollo, a
spacey roller packed with stunning lead movement, ethereal pads, and space mission
sound bytes. An elegant symphony of emotive sound design over booming bass, this
contemplative cut is a perfect breather between pummelings.
