Mike Huber - 28 Days Later dubstep (WIP)

Post by Mike Huber » Thu Mar 10, 2011 7:12 am

It's been a while since I've posted here. Just got around to working on some dubstep today and this is what I've come up with so far. Let me know what you guys think, and if you feel it's missing something. Constructive criticism is always appreciated :D

I haven't worked on the drums a whole lot so far, so they're a tad rough and repetitious. I'll get around to it.

I like the keys and the way you bring the bassline in. The build on the tune is really cool, bringing in the different elements gradually. As you said the drums could use a little more variation and when the guitar starts to go hard it might be cool to have a big drop or have the drums go all crazy or something.

I like it.

I like it man, nice work, love how you have everything coming in slowly, really capture the mood of the original piece.
I think the snare could use a bit more oomph and maybe mess with the hats some more (perhaps an off beat stab would work). A bit of variation in the drums wouldnt go a miss and Im not really feeling the high bass notes bit at around 3:30.

:)

Thanks for the feedback guys :D The part around 3:20 is where I want to put the big drop, and everything after would follow that pattern until the original song comes back in again. And I really like the progressive feel to this track, so I'm glad you commented on that :)

I've been playing with the snares to try and get a better sound outta them, but I just haven't found it yet. I'm using 2 different samples layered over eachother for my snare sound. I think I might have to switch one of them out for something with a bit more... snare? lol

Thanks for listening ^_^
