and if you came to see me at my job, you would think i enjoyed being there (which i do), and it's one of the reasons i'm successful and people come back to see me (retail sales).ashley wrote:Technically, they are.south3rn wrote:i hate it when a dj looks like they're at work

But mixing requires concentration.south3rn wrote:and if you came to see me at my job, you would think i enjoyed being there (which i do), and it's one of the reasons i'm successful and people come back to see me (retail sales).ashley wrote:Technically, they are.south3rn wrote:i hate it when a dj looks like they're at work
Retail sales is a role where you're required to make people feel welcome, otherwise if you act like a tnuc you'd sell fuck all.

Play what you would want to hear if you were in the audience and then you will get loved for what you play and not just be known for being a crowd pleaser cos that gets boring quickly

Re: Tips on performing?
Just drop some acid and let the music flow, I'm sure the crowd will love it.
Re: Tips on performing?
Pretty much. If you love what you're playing, someone else will love it too.truefiktion wrote:Play what you would want to hear if you were in the audience and then you will get loved for what you play and not just be known for being a crowd pleaser cos that gets boring quickly

Re: Tips on performing?
i let the music do the talking, usually im pretty busy mixing/beatmatching or flippin through my cd book, which i tend to put on the ground sometimes so i can crouch down and act like im picking rekkids lol nah but really tho who gives a fuck be urself and dont act like ur too cool imo.

As long as you're enjoying yourself it'll all come naturally, just be animated. Watching a dj playing who's constantly eyes down is boring, no matter how good the selection is. imo. Also, don't pull up tracks. 1 maybe 2 tops. if the MC wants more than that, ignore him. Also, don't let the MC control his mic levels. Should probably pack your own needles too just incase, it sucks, but standard procedure these days.
