Which chair?

Couldn't find anything when I searched for this...

Can anyone recommend a decent comfy chair for producing in? gonna be spending long hours in it so thought i'd do some research!

my budget is from around 50-100 pounds, if it looks pimping then that's a bonus

Forget spending your money until you've got at least £500. Even then you'll be looking at second hand chairs..

I bought an RH-Logic 400 and cannot fault it. It is by far the most comfy office chair I've ever had for long periods in front of the computer.

Also worth checking out are the Herman Miller ranges, especially their newer chairs. I'm personally not a fan of webbing on the seat as it can become sore after several ours, so their initial flagship chair (the Aeron) goes out the window because of this.

Hag do an odd looking chair that is actually pretty comfortable.

Anyway, do some research before splashing the cash, and go and sit in some office chairs in your local ergonomics and office supplies stores. If you're really stuck, scratch around the second hand office furniture stores for a bargain.

Ikea have one or two okay chairs, but found their arm rests didn't come up high enough to actually support my elbows. After 10 hours straight, a lack of elbow support always left me feeling shit.

For very very competitive quotes, get in touch with the people at http://spaceff.com Their website may look wack, but their 'way cheaper than the competition' prices more than make up for the lack of eye candy.

Tips on bartering. Quote the best price you have seen online to a retailer then ask them to match it. When they beat it, go to another retailer and ask them to match the new price. When they beat that, go to third retailer and ask 'em to match it. Eventually, you'll be told they cannot go any lower than the prices they're offering. No problem, go back to your cheapest two suppliers and play them off against each other over free delivery, speedy lead times, inclusive VAT and any additional extras you can think.

London Road Office Furniture may look shady, but they have some bargains on the top of the line models that have been thrown away from the big london offices.

its not ridiculous. If your not bothered about getting a decent chair you might as well go to IKEA and get the cheapest one you can find.

Its true it is worth saving up for something super comfy, and there is definitely a big difference between the cheaper chairs in the £50 - £100 bracket and those costing above that. Discomfort is essentially a distraction - the comfier you are the more attention you can focus on your DAW. I've got a generic looking office chair (not sure on the brand) that cost about £300, its basically just the squishy black fake leather you see on loads of office chairs. Two things I would say are essential in a producing chair are decent arm rests and wheels. The arms rests are great because you can relax your arms and still have them at the same level as the desk/table, and the wheels for turning to face the keyboard or just generally shifting position during a long session on the laptop. Also a reclinable back rest is always a good feature.

Save up another 50 quid or so and look at office chairs/go to staples or somewhere like that, get wheels, arm rests and reclinable back rest and you will be sorted

Adjustable arm rests make a world of difference.
Lumbar support is a nice feature that surprisingly also makes a nice difference.
Don't worry about a headrest unless you smoke a lot of weed lol.

The reason I love the RH Logic 400 so much is that literally every part of the chair is adjustable! When I want to lean back, I loosen the tilt/rocking mechanism and just lean back. If I want to be stiff and upright while typing, I set everything up so I'm sat well forwards. Adjusting the chair takes about 2 seconds once you're used to the
controls, and it can all be done while sitting in the chair (for the lazy amongst us)...

I got one in January from Staples, they had a sale on, got a really nice one for £90 (was £180) with padding armrests...defo get padded arms rqather than plastic. I would try them in person, ones that look comfy sometimes arn't, so buying online can be a gamble
