Bad = Bad Ass......I assume.makerowner wrote:snypadub wrote:Like a fair few words throw about nowadays Easy and safe come from gang culture (proper gang culture not people acting all gangsta).
Safe and easy being greetings the long hand of each would be along the lines of, 'hey, everything safe, no feds or rivals about?'
'Hey hows it going, everything easy (ie not had a tough day on the streets)'
Not a gangsta myself, far from it but this is where the words have their roots.
Was going to do an essay on street slang etymology next year at uni actually.![]()
And why do the kids say bad when they mean good? I hope someone can explain all this slang for us.

I thought it was because ganstas think it's good to be bad. But I'm not a gansta myself, so I couldn't say...LA_Boxers wrote:Bad = Bad Ass......I assume.makerowner wrote:snypadub wrote:Like a fair few words throw about nowadays Easy and safe come from gang culture (proper gang culture not people acting all gangsta).

Re: Why do people into dubstep say easy?
Even though Im now in Bournemouth I still use all my south east london slang. I say 'allow it' a lot and no one really understands me lol i say safe and easy loads and if im sayin bye i say 'in a bit' but not sure thats a london term. i say 'innit' loads still too.
now this isnt slang but i say 'sort of thing' soooo much and it doesnt even make sense, in context: 'i like dubstep but sometimes i wake up and just want to listen to DNB, sort of thing' and obviously the traditional 'like...you know..like'. Saying 'like' for no reason annoys me but i do it more than anyone haha

Re: Why do people into dubstep say easy?
it doesnt really have anything to do with dubstep... everyone says those words, where i live its just how people greet each other, even my mate with long hair who loves 80s rock and that says safe

Why do people say "peace"?
Why do people say "see ya"?
Why do people say "goodbye"?
Linguistics. Shit's complicated. Where's noam?

Oh Lord, I've gone to uni in the North, and NO ONE understands me. Stuff like beg, jog (you jogged me), dun noe, and I say isn't it at the end of most sentences. Also, I tried to pick up, (yeah, can I get a benz please) and the guy was like, wtf? You never really realise how different the North is until you go there.

no need for life story just ask the questionezmyrelda wrote:Easy, Eazy, EZ etc..
This is a sincere and straightforward question. This used to make me double take constantly because the first two letters of my name are ez and sometimes people call me Ez.
For those of you wondering who the fuck I am and why should I care and why should you explain something as random and trivial as this.. You don't have to. Like I said, It's a sincere question. I like and "attempt" to produce dubstep, and I like (some) and and attempt to produce brostep (hangs head in shame), and a variety of other stuff as well. I'm just a wandering student trying to fit different pieces of the puzzle together.
Random incidental note. I fucking hate the "I'm angry and I'm attempting to rape your face with a speaker cabinet because my mommy didn't love me." midrangey stuff. Midrange is cool and all but overly angry music makes me want to punch ducks. Which isn't cool.
