Re: Brostep enlightenment
their is a huge difference between jakes, coki sukh knight etc
and bare noize, skrillex, datisk, excision etc
one group doesn't try too hard and creates bangers which are standard in almost every dj's set and command instant instant reloads. the others are just over produced noise which only see the light of day when being played by someone in the group.
in case you haven't noticed you'll never see a UK proper hype dj drop any shit from skrillex, bare etc.
see the difference

so Skream and Benga aren't "UK proper hype DJs"? (whatever the hell that is...) Cuz didn't they played a Datsik tune at DMZ?
why not just accept that the "huge difference" between those groups is simply that you like the first, and dislike the second, and leave it at that?
Re: Brostep enlightenment
I'm honestly not a fan of all this 'brostep' (fuckin worse name for a sub genre of a sub genre I ever heard) and I do think it's a poor representation of the genre as a whole. That's why peole piss me off with their "it's called dubstep same as skream burial benga etc it's all dubstep" which is true in a way but then if someone wanted to listen to some dubstep the first artists they might hear of under the dubstep name might be borgore and skrillix which might put them off the scene altogether, when if they heard say burial first they might have loved it.
I have no problem with borgore and whoever else under the brostep name as long as it can be distinguished from the traditional dubstep. I think the reason a lot of people hate on it so much is because it falls under the dubstep name and so we look for the same qualities in these artists as we do from distance, which just aren't there. If it wasn't under the name dubstep it wouldn't be thrown in with the music we like so I don think it would bother peole as much here

Re: Brostep enlightenment
this is ridiculous, why can't the different directions of the genre be enjoyed.
i like most of the artists listed as brostep, i also like underground dubstep.. just dont understand the elitism towards this new wave and evolution of dubstep..
if you dont like it dont listen to it? why do we have to be complaining..
brostep if im right seems to be the most popular form, surely thats a good thing. dubstep producers should be happy that this genre is having such a massive influence on the music industry
peace & Love from Moxix, probably a brostep producer

Re: Brostep enlightenment
you like dubstep influenced electro! nothing wrong with that but the style you enjoy is actually REGRESSION in the world of dubstep.
pompende wrote:it's not progression. but, you say, they're incorporating features of other styles into dubstep, of course it's progression! fair play except they're incorporating all the shitty features of classic edm that dubstep was consciously designed to omit. they're making music that is exactly what dubstep was never supposed to be!

Re: Brostep enlightenment
I like classic dubstep (skream, benga, kode 9, etc.) But I also like new "brostep" (which is a really gay name) dubstep (Datsik, Skrillex, Excision, Doctor P, etc.) It's all about personal opinion. There's times where I like mellowing out and listening to chill shiit, but there's times to where I also wanna feel the bass pound through my brain on a massive drop. It' all about personal opinion so why can't we all just love the music?

WE CALL IT BOO BOO SAUCE WHERE IM FROM!!!
dubstep, described as "a genre of electronic music conveying a dark and brooding atmosphere through prominent bass lines"

Yeah I can drop some Datsik, Hydraulic and all that shit during a set. But Id rather take a Jakes track, for example Cpt Nemo, Signal, Hail Jah remix because they include loads of bass in them and still maintain a tense feeling of smashing the fuck out of the dancefloor. Signal goes up real bassy then smacks itself around after the drop. If u heard it, then you know it. Same things with Annihilate, Comply (even though not released) - they have some sense into them than just a whole bunch of sounds created in NI Massive after which there's a kick-snare beat layed under.
Excision's Subsonic is real good though...

I do. Being called a brostepper is kind of like being called a niqqer. You guys don't like us and try to use the word against us, but if that's what we are then that's what we are and we just don't give a fuck.64hz wrote:i find it fucking hilarious how the term was said as a joke on hear, now pwople use it seriously
